Awesome gym, great for bouldering and rope climbing. The people here are very nice and helpful, and I will definitely come again the next time I visit NYC.

WARNING for anyone considering climbing with BKB: I was introduced by a friend of mine and enjoyed coming so much that I became an active member. I even started to introduce other friends of mine, some of whom became members, too. But when I brought some of my non-white friends (I'm white), staff refused to honor the advertised discount prices for first-time climbers -- the same price that myself and other friends had received just days before. When I tried to show the staff their own website, they immediately threatened to call the cops on us. When I contacted management to express my frustration, they essentially responded by cancelling my membership. They didn't refund the three weeks that I had paid for and tried to keep charging my card (I blocked the card). When I tried to contact upper management, there was no response. I really wish this was a fake review, but unfortunately it's 100% real. There are climbing gyms that do not engage in illegal and racist activities. Go to those instead.

Super-kudos to Melina for saving my day!

Just started out 3 months ago and overall I enjoy the place - the community is welcoming and the route setting is good and not too repetitive. However generally the place isn’t in the best shape - it smells, there’s always water dripping, mats are pretty dirty, no paper towels etc. hopefully it improves.

For kids academy, a 2hr after school and weekend program, is ages 5 to 12. Teen academy is 12 and up. Kids academy is Monday to Friday, 4 to 6, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 12. These classes cost 39, and includes instructors, shoes, and harness.
Yes totally fine! I'd recommend their intro class if you are a beginner. You'll also get a free pass with the class to come back another day within the week. And if you end up getting the membership they'll reimburse the class.
Regular hours!
Yes they are open until 12 a.m.
Go on groupon they have a great deal for day passes
An adult day pass is $36. You can also rent shoes for $7, harness $7, chalk $2. Monthly membership is $135 + a one-time activation fee of $100. A ten-pack of passes is $329.
There are walls with auto belays, yes. Usually 4 of them with 2 routes per wall
No. Street parking. Try near 3rd ave usually have parking there
32 dollars day pass and 10 dollar harness 7 dollar shoes
I would go and do some bouldering. Climb without ropes so you can meet the community and people can give you tips. There are always people who will teaxh you the basics
Shoes cost 7 bucks, a full day is 32 for an adult
$32 for a day pass
So most of the gym is usable for all ages except for the weights and training area (14+), top rope and lead rope require classes+certification test, but the auto belay (the rope climbing wall with a device that allows you to rappel on your own) is usable by everyone also. Passes are for the entire day unless specified otherwise, and the gym gym is mostly open until midnight and most holidays.
I dont see why not
One day pass is about $30 plus $7 shoe rent. That will get you bouldering. To climb the ropes you will need to take a class.
