No, they send you to someone else but go to the health department and ask for regency placement, also there are a lot of elderly communities try there as well.

I was wondering if anyone in Gainesville could donate a refrigerator to my grandson/his girlfriend and three baby girls they are just using a dorm size refrigerator at the moment. I could even buy one if it was cheap enough.

They do assist with any low income families. You would have to call to get information for exactly what you're looking for.

Do they help standed people with bus fares to home

Arthur Wolfgram | Sep 16, 2019
Demi Crosby | Sep 16, 2019

Regularly, no. There is an Episcopal Church off of Main St. that does give out All Day bus passes on Wednesdays. I know they want you to have a license and ask you a few questions.

I received some assistance from Catholic charities in Jax, FL and Houston, TX-and none at all-in Boston, MA. Do Catholic charities in Gainesville, FL-really help the homeless?

Not much food once a month is all ive ever gotten and that wasnt much

Why do they not help ones in public housing. So unfair. She told me I had to move out of public housing to get utilities pd. So unfair

Cheryl Kellam | Sep 16, 2018
Laquetta Kassab | Sep 16, 2018

This is how I understand it from when I lived in public housing years ago: your rent is based on your income and then they take an amount out of that rent to ensure you can pay your utilities. Basically, they figure you are allotted an amount off your rent to pay your utilities so you have to have that. Back in the 90's you would get kicked out of public housing if your utilities were ever shut off for that very reason. No idea if they still do that though.
