The prior posts regarding receiving food...from where - because when I called and inquired, I was told very matter of a fact - THEY DON'T GIVE FOOD AWAY, other than bread and pastries. In fact, they don't do much of anything to assist the needy. This seems to be a trend that is taking hold in Gainesville. They say one thing, and do the polar opposite. I have yet to see this agency assist anyone.

Not usually, but if there are other, larger items we can take other things. Our drop off donation center is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
We no longer have drop off sites other than our main offices as we are distributing this week. If you still want to drop off items you can bring them to 639 E University Ave. And no, they do not need to be wrapped. Thanks for thinking of us!
Yes. Just call the main number and you should be connected to the store where you can arrange for a pick up.
Normally, we pick up larger items, like furniture and appliances. As we just reopened, we are phasing in our services over time, so we are not operating the pick up service at this time. However, we do expect to resume the service in few days. If you want, we do offer a touchless donation system at the store at 55 NW 23rd Ave. The store is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The donation center is on the side of the main store at 55 NW 23rd Ave. The hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am - 4:30 p.m.
Currently, The Salvation Army Family Store (on NW 23rd) is not picking up donations until most likely the week of September 16, as they are in they process of hiring a new staff for that purpose. Keep checking with the main offices (on E University as we get closer to that date)
There are no shower facilities at this Salvation Army location.
If you registered, you would have received a card with a phone number. The number would have given you the address and day to receive your items. If you've lost your card, please call 352.376.1743 and follow the prompts for the social service worker's extension. She should be able to help you from there.
