Nice place for fishing time ....not many fishing spot cause the mangrove is very invasive here.i think the best option for fishing is launching kayak, free boat ramp no parking in area just on the side of the way and no restrooms

Pretty easy to launch a kayak. Caught some trout.

Questions & Answers

Why call it Camp Cockroach?

It is a preserve for fishing, bird watching , kayaking, etc. I've never seen camp sites, although, some may camp on small islands accessible only by boat.

This comes up in Google as a place to camp? Has anyone camped here? Are there sites? Thanks

No. They're aren't any camp sites. This ifs only a boost ramp. They're are camp sites at E. G. Simmons just up the road about 5 miles.

Is there shoreline accessible for fishing or do you need a boat?

Yes you can fish from shore. Just be aware, the boat ramp can be pretty busy at times so you may have to move around to avoid boat traffic. Most folks out there are really nice. I always hold on to any left over live bait to give to shoreline anglers when I return to the ramp from a trip. Definitely will want to have some bug repellant with you. Enjoy!
