I found Felines & Canines through Petfinder. Originally I was visiting to see a very specific cat, but it turns out she had been adopted about a week prior to my visit (my one recommendation would be that they update their petfinder listings more regularly, but I understand that can be time consuming!). When I got there, the staff was super friendly and the visitation process was really well managed. They took us to the cat room and pointed us to very specific cats that aligned with some of our wants/needs on our application. The staff was knowledgeable about every cat in the room- they obviously care about the animals there and have personal relationships with each of them. They were incredibly patient while we spent our time petting and bonding with a few kitties, letting us walk around for about 45 minutes, and even going in the kitten rooms despite coming for an adult. ☺️ We ended up taking this stunner home the next day. Her personality is exactly how they described her to us, and I trust that their health data is all accurate. It is obvious that this shelter wants their pets to go home to the right families and genuinely wants to see them thrive. Would recommend applying to see some of their cats if you’re in search of a new feline friend!

This shelter is truly an amazing place I just got my 4 mounth old baby boy kitten from here and he's so adorable I just love him thank you! And it was so easy to adopt him the same day!

We had a wonderful experience here, everyone was warm and welcoming, the staff had so much information on our new dog, adopting a pet with them was organized and efficient and we bought home a really happy & healthy little dog.

This winter my senior dog went to heaven and I wasn’t sure if my cat would need a friend at first , but I gave it a month and it was obvious she was lonely. Samantha got back to me ASAP for email lol Application is very practical, times available to view the cats are reasonably quick! She also asked me what I was looking for in a cat. I knew I wanted a boy, but wanted to remain open to age / who she thought was a best match for Isadora. I explained how she was with Dollar and sent photos of them together so she could get a better idea of personality. The first cat she showed me was Magic (Midnight). I loved him instantly!! She showed me a couple other possible matches that were equally cute, but she nailed it on the first one!! It took a sec to introduce them because the scent thing is real and I believe Isadora was still grieving Dollar. Now it’s been a little over a month and they LOVE each other. I am so thankful to felines and canines! Can’t recommend them enough❤️ Update Isadora and Magic love each other sooo much. Magic follows me around the house and face paps me / nibbles my toes in the morning to feed them wet food and play fetch with the current toy of choice. He’s the best! No one can replace Dollar but Magic has been a godsend. I knew it from my first introduction and have no regrets. Thank you for treating these angels with so much love and care. He sleeps belly up stretched out just like I saw him at the shelter. He follows me around like a shadow. Love my Alabama rescue from felines and canines. If I didn’t rent , I would adopt more, but I do donate when I can.

I would give them a call! They are very nice and would be glad to answer your questions.
Yeah most of those places are always looking for volunteers. They close at 6pm
I'm positive they have those. I adopted my 3 year-old black kitty from here.
Appt only by email.
Yes! Just send them an email letting them know because they don’t have much of a lobby for you to wait in :)
I'm sure they would take him if you just send them an email
It is best to call them but sometimes you may not get a response. Best way is to email you'll get a prompt response. I would call them and if there is no answer then follow-up with an email.
Send them an email or contact via Facebook. We just got our puppy there and they've been fantastic. We always communicate by email.
I have two sisters kittens to give for free
Usually totals up to $500
I am not sure.
You have to already have a cat at home if you want just one kitten and I believe it's $150.
Yes. Call ahead if possible though. Adoption hours start at 12:30 but there's usually people there from 9 if you call
Adult cats are typically $100 to adopt. If you get 2 then you will only pay $150 instead of $200. All cats are up to date on vaccinations.
If you have the time, you can volunteer and help with stuff they need (walking, feeding, playing, etc.) but if its more of a one off thing, then no its not really the place for that.
They do keep records
Your best bet is giving them a call and asking. Staff is very friendly and happy to help.
Sometime they may allow for video conferencing, but not always (they take lots of factors into consideration to allow that) You probably just want to have everyone there or try to have them go at different times in case you all can't go together.
I do remember in the contract you cannot get a refund. I would still you to then and ask to be sure
Best to go downtown to the humane society they will do it for 15 bucks
