I have been a customer of VFO Flooring North Hills for over three years now and I am always impressed with the quality of their products. The tiles are easy to clean and take the weight of heavy pots and pans without any problems. Last time, I called them and they responded promptly. I was able to book an appointment with them the next day which is always a major plus. 10 of 10 service and products.

Whether or not your quartz countertops will be seamless completely depends on the size of your kitchen and the layout of your lower cabinets. Like granite, quartz is sold in slabs; however, all slabs max out at a certain length. The most common maximum slab length for both granite and quartz is 125” L x 65” W. This means if your lower cabinets are longer than 125” in length that your countertops will have to be seamed. Otherwise, you can achieve seamless quartz countertops.
No, as a matter of fact, vinyl is available as sheets, planks or tiles, presenting a variety of options to express your own personal creativity.
You will want to exercise caution when cooking near your new quartz countertops. While granite countertops can withstand heat with no effects, quartz can be affected by extreme heat. The best practice is to use cutting boards, hot pads, and trivets between the hot kitchen tools and quartz countertops. This will save your quartz from warping or being otherwise damaged from extreme heat.
Rigid core flooring, unlike many other types of flooring, offers the ultimate dent resistance against things like dropped objects and high heels. It's also 100% waterproof, so when exposed to water the planks will not swell, buckle or lose integrity.
Sheet vinyl is has been around for a long time. It's cheap and water resistant, but it also doesn't have a great reputation because it can look and feel cheap. This makes a floor that is still relatively inexpensive but is more durable and better looking than traditional vinyl.
cracked concrete can easily allow moisture and debris to enter the spaces between the tile and the mortar, which can cause the tiles to come loose. In addition, cracked concrete becomes missing concrete that can eventually ruin the installation. Repairing cracked concrete is worth the time it takes.
Quartz countertops are stain-resistant thanks to the 5% of polymer that is mixed in with the natural stone during the manufacturing process. This polymer addition makes quartz one of the most durable surfaces on the market and they are resistant to scratches, as well, under normal circumstances. One instance that you will want to watch out for after you become a homeowner with quartz countertops is ring stains. If you spill a liquid or leave a sweaty glass on your quartz surface, be sure to wipe up the water right away and avoid over saturating the quartz.

While luxury vinyl flooring is incredibly durable, it's not completely impervious to damage. It can scratch or scuff, especially with heavy objects such as appliances. On the positive side, luxury vinyl flooring is more scratch-resistant than hardwood, and, with LVP, you can replace pieces if they get scratched
As with any home remodel, if you are replacing old, out-dated, cheap materials with more modern, high-end upgrades then the value of your home will increase. More scratch resistant/lasts longer. Pre-finished hardwood is 7-10x more scratch resistant than unfinished hardwood. That’s because when it’s finished on site, you generally get 2-3 coats of polyurethane while when it’s made in the factory, you usually get at least 6-7 coats which are oven baked along w/ aluminum oxide, the worlds’ 2nd hardest substance.

Solid hardwood is cut from a single piece of wood. Solid hardwood flooring can be installed above or on grade, but is not recommended for below grade. Engineered hardwood is made from multiple layers consisting of a thick top layer of solid hardwood, an inner core of high density material and a hardwood backing. Engineered wood floors offer superior strength and stability, making them suitable for dampness-prone areas like finished basements and bathrooms.

This laminate flooring can be installed over concrete or wood subfloors, and the installation is easy according to many reviewers — even with little to no flooring experience. Many people remark on the high-quality of this German-manufactured product and the lack of chemical odor

The kind of trends you might see in hardwood planks or natural stone tiles can often be found in luxury vinyl. Traditional, rustic and exotic woods in plank sizes as wide as 7". Travertine or marble-mimicking tiles. Modern industrial designs inspired by concrete or petrified wood. So many options means it's easy to find a floor that does what you need it to do, but is really stylish, too.
The tile type often dictates what size joint space to use. It is desirable to have small joints in most cases. If a tile is rectified (cut after firing) a 2mm or 3mm space is possible. But not all tiles are 100% perfectly sized, therefore a bigger joint is sometime needed for a more aesthetic distribution of pieces.
Use solid hardwood rather than Engineered hardwood. Solid hardwood is often better quality and most engineered hardwood floors have a limited number of sandings. It’s always good to have an insurance plan, and you will have stronger peace of mind with solid, since you can refinish solid hardwood floors if you get deep scratches or if you get pet stains.

The moisture content of the wood needs to adjust to the conditions in the room prior to installation. To acclimate hardwood flooring, place the packaged boards ─ cartons open and raised off the floor ─ in the room where they will be installed for 5 – 7 days. It is not necessary to acclimate engineered wood flooring.
It’s natural for hardwood flooring to yellow, grow darker or even lighter over time, depending on the wood species. Exposure to direct sunlight and some artificial lighting accelerates this process. Moving furniture and rugs will keep your floor well blended.

“Resilient flooring” is a term used for flooring that has some elasticity to it. This is the case with vinyl – it is a firm flooring product with a bit of “give.” The terms vinyl and resilient flooring are often used interchangeably. However, it’s important to note that there are some non-vinyl, resilient flooring options, including cork, rubber and linoleum. If you have questions specific to any resilient flooring product, a Floor Store associate would be happy to help. Give us a call or stop by today.
