The officers are cool. Even helped me change a flat tire when a distracted driver cut out in front of me and I hit the curb to avoid an accident. Had another officer assist me on the 75th street overpass when my car stalled out. Thank you brother! . But if you have any issue regarding the ever-growing local homeless population. Either bedding down in our hallways or panhandling on the center median during rush hour (especially after dark), I highly recommend either handling yourself or just ignoring it and exercising your constitutionally right to carry. They can't (or won't) do anything. Always an excuse. . I understand that it's a rough time for a cop. But some of them do nothing to make it easier on themselves to make contact with civilians as easy as possible. Got a few bad eggs on the payroll with big ego problems. Especially after dark. The kind that use their position to intimidate you or violate your rights. Nah bruh. Those days are over. Go scare some kids. The bad eggs just make it even harder for the decent ones. . Don't get me wrong, Merriam does have decent officers. Shout out Officer Rock. . All in all, if you live in an apartment complex in Merriam, I would sadly advise you not bothering to call them after dark. Never had a good experience. And one situation that could have escalated into something dangerous due to the candor of the responding officers. . De-escalation is the name of the game. A large portion of the population is suffering from covid/news related PTSD, self inflected TDS, drug & alcohol abuse in ever increasing numbers. If you can't handle the night shift and the unique calls that come with it, a new profession may be in order. . But for the good ones who swore to the oath and uphold it, God bless you!
