I just had the worst experience at this store. On Friday night I went to the self checkout kiosk to scan my groceries. I had a bottle of wine so as I scanned the bottle the light went on above the station. The woman came over and asked me very rudely for my id. I told her I was 60 years old and she said I don’t care it’s the law. I had been in this store before and never was carded before. She then very rudely said “ if I knew that they weren’t checking id’s they would be fired!!”. I showed her my id and she went marching away. I explained to her I didn’t like her attitude and she yelled across the store “ I don’t like your attitude!”. I asked to speak to the manager and Lori the manager came over to me. When I told her what happened she was telling me about the policy. During this conversation the other girl came over and started talking over me to try to defend herself. I then pointed out to Lori the rudeness the girl was displaying and this is an example of how she’s treating customers. I understood the policy, however this is no way to treat your customers! I will never return to this Mariano’s again!!!

I picked up two small bunches of flowers and put them in the same bag to try to minimize plastic waste. The florist rudely came out from her desk and demanded to know how many bunches I had. She rifled through my cart to rebag the bunches separately. She chastised me, saying that both needed to be scanned, like I was a thief trying to steal! It was humiliating and offensive. The Jewel Osco down the street may not be as new, but no one has ever treated me like a thief there. My overall experience was extremely poor, and I would not recommend.

The sushi department should kindly take notes from the Mariano’s sushi department in Glenview. I’ve had sushi from both stores and I can honestly say the sushi here at Harwood Heights is not so great. The rice is way too mushy/sticky compared to the one in Glenview. It offsets the taste of the sushi and makes for an overall unpleasant meal. I believe the HH store uses way too much rice vinegar so maybe cut down on that so the rice has more texture vs being mushy. Just my thoughts ☺️ I will continue to try the sushi at a later time to see if this Mariano’s improved. I hope this review helps!

The employers are nice and professional but again management very poor. I complained with manager at STARBUCKS why she is so awful with the employer, the employer was just making my coffee how I asked but manager JANET came and change everything and she was rude with the employer and I was stunned how rude she was. I complained to the store manager but not one do anything. The manager JANET should be fire. What a horrible person, if she doesn’t like to work with people there is more jobs that it doesn’t require interact with people.
