Beach vibes, great local beer and a mindful menu make this place a standout when dining in Ventura. It's Labor Day weekend and I'm here for the second time in three days with my wife and 6 yr old son. If you're looking for sit down table service and a server, this isn't your place. You order at the counter (but it's a very nice counter) and hustle for seating, but there are multiple floors and plenty of outdoor seating. Sounds of classic rock fill the air, mixing nicely with the salt water to the west and the MadeWest pale ale right in front of me (by way of separate upstairs tasting room and tab). Kids menu (the boy loved the buttered pasta) was spot on and I've tasted the Poke Bowl, grilled stuff chile and the ceviche. I'm not looking for - nor will I find - any Michelin stars but the food is solid and did what I needed it to. Love this place and look forward to future visits. PS - Great views of the Ventura Pier, Channel Islands and the mighty Pacific may be an afterthought in this review, but not in the overall experience.

What a pleasant surprise!!! We were walking along the beach and we got hungry. We saw this restaurant on the pier and we gave it a chance. You order right away. Usually there's a line. Be patient. It's worth it. The clam chowder blows your mind. The poke is delicious, fresh, and well sized. Even the child menu is cooked beautifully The restaurant is well designed and cozy! Highly recommended!

Calamari is so dry and hard that we can't eat. Taco had frozen fish which was not even warmed up. Only yhe clam chowder soup was good and service is below expectation. Terrible experience.
