The generator must have Ignition Protected (IP) components installed. Kohler offers the smaller diesel with these parts but they are not the standard generators. The boat requires a separate diesel fuel system, with independent fuel lines, new fuel return lines, fuel valve and a new completely separate diesel fuel tank installed. Separate fuel fills on deck must be correctly installed. It must be kept separate from the boats gasoline fuel system. Special consideration must be given to locations and compliance to US Coast Guard requirements. The installation of the generator must be done in accordance with Kohler Installation Guidelines. Ventilation, fuel, water hoses and exhaust. Nothing of the original can be reused. Battery requirements are also greater with a diesel than the small gasoline units. Wiring may have to be upgraded. AC output wiring may have to be changed or upgraded.

Flush flange is when the refrigerator flange is in the same level as the wall and surface flange is when the refrigerator flange comes out of the wall. Sometimes when the depth is not big enough, you might prefer a surface flange so the refrigerator can come out a little. Or if you prefer flush flange in that case it has to have the depth necessary to fit the refrigerator inside the cut out dimension.

Use oil that meets the American petroleum institute (API) classification of SC, SD, SE, SF, SG, SH, or SJ. Using unsuitable oil or neglecting an oil change may result in engine damage that is not covered by the engine warranty. Don't mix different oil brands. Incompatibility could cause a breakdown of lubricating ingredients and reduce engine protection.

The direct replacement for a Cruisair ED and EQ condensing unit is the Dometic Emerald unit DEU, available in 6,000 but - 72,000 but, 230V, 50Hz, 230V 60 Hz and 380V 50Hz 3PH.
