I had an unfortunate oil spill in my car on the way over - the employees (volunteers?) there helped me clean it up! Very friendly and great people.

Where can I dispose of outdated, over the counter meds?

Mitch Eakin | Feb 15, 2022
County of Santa Barbara: Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center | Feb 15, 2022

Hi there, Mitch! Thank you so much for inquiring about safe medication disposal. Over-the-counter medications cannot be disposed of in our local take-back program. Instead, they should be emptied out of their current container and mixed with cat litter, dirt, or other undesirable substance. This prevents animals, children, or other individuals from finding them. Then take the mixture and put it into a different container, like a coffee can or sealed sandwich bag, and then dispose of the whole thing in the trash. I hope that is helpful. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us via the "Contact Us" feature on www.lessismore.org. Thanks for the great question!
