As an avid bicyclist who knows absolutely nothing about bicycle repair, I am grateful to Halter’s Cycles for allowing me to continue being ignorant about how my bike works. Not only do they always fix and tune my Trek 520 so that it rides smoother than when I first bought it (unfortunately the Princeton bicycle shop on Nassau Street that sold it to me did a terrible job assembling it, as I later learned on the bicycle’s maiden interstate voyage) but they also do so promptly, affordably, and honestly. As an example: most recently my rear brake was not working because the caliper was totally stuck. I assumed this meant I needed a new caliper and told them as much. Nope! Apparently just an odd broken brake cable. The next day my bicycle was ready for pickup and the cost was only $32. And the best part? They clearly tuned up the gear and breaking systems because the bicycle is once again performing better than when I first bought it. I am happy to be back on the road getting to my favorite saxophone spots and while it will be a sad day when my current bicycle goes RIP, I look forward to purchasing my next two wheel steed at Halter’s. In the meantime, thank you for the world-class care.

Went to Halter's for a precision bike fitting on the recommendation of a friend who has been to local bike shops all over the country. It was a fantastic experience. Don is a wealth of knowledge and you can see his huge passion for cycling. Some people may just want to be in and out and have the staff just get the job done real quick. But this is the right way to do it. Don will explain everything in detail and the reasoning behind it. It was like taking a master class in the biomechanics of cycling.

Super lucky to have a LBS as good as this one. They’re well stocked and have a crew that knows their products inside and out.

I went for a flat tire on June 7. They had changed the tube relatively recently but had ridden the bike only twice when I got another flat tire. My kid used soap and water and figured out the air was coming from the valve, so when we went to the shop we already knew where the problem was. I explained the situation with the flat tire. First he (I do not know his name) said the tire has no leak. Then we said that the air is leaking from the valve and we know it because we tested it. He said that I ripped the valve because I did not know how to pump the tire (hahaha). I told him that I pumped the tire because it got completely flat. Long story short, he changed the defective tube and charged me for it. I am sparing you the details but the whole time he was rude, condescending, and obnoxious. Unfortunately there are not many bike shops left.

Indeed. We can change or switch tires on bicycles.
No customers enter the store. When you arrive, ring the bell to the right of the door and someone will come outside to help you in the covered patio area. Masks are required.
I need to know the specific size.
We sure can!
Please bring it by! Glad to have a 👀 look.
