The Nature Center is the very first place to contact should you find injured wildlife. Additionally, they offer programs that will come to your classroom or community events. For many years they were helpful when students brought in wildlife questions or when their animal hospital was necessary

I found a bird that was injured and they provided assistance over the phone and advised me what to do. Turns out it was not injured, and it was in fact a duck! Outstanding job reaching out to me within 5 to 10 minutes of me calling with expert assistance. Thank you very much for the work you do

Am I aloud to hold some of them? Like a squirrel?

Carlye Goldman | Sep 13, 2020
Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital | Sep 13, 2020

Visitors cannot hold animals. Some programs allow guests to pet/touch certain ones but in general you should not be holding a squirrel unless you are a licensed rehabber and have reason to do so. Their bite is pretty bad :-)

Good Morning, Unfortunately we do not take Muscovy ducks, as they are not native species. If you are asking about Muscovy ducks, there are two options: Duck Haven in Margate. The phone number is (954)979-5044. South Florida Wildlife Center occasionally takes those ducks. The phone number is (954)524-4302. You can visit our "Frequently asked questions" page on our website sawgrassnaturecenter.org for more information.

Good Afternoon. If it is a Muscovy duck, we do not accept them, as they are not native. You can call the South Florida Wildlife Center at (954)524-4302 ext. 10. You can also call one other person, but I do not want to write her personal phone number online. You can call us at (954)752-9453 for this number.
