Excellent camp ground in a beautiful setting. O'Dell Lake is great!

Best spot on Odell lake. Lots of things to do around the water. Always see at least one eagle. Huckleberries all over ready to pick. Kayaking is our favorite, but this is a fishing lake! A shot hike to Shelter Cove for anything from snacks to a meal. This is also a famous stop on the Pacific Crest Trail.

Questions & Answers

Is this campground on Odell Lake?

Yes, if you zoom out on the map you can see the lake and where on the lake the campground is.

Camping at Trapper Creek next week. Is there any good fishing from the bank? How many tents will a campsite fit? Any other tips for me?

The best fishing at Odell is from a boat, you may get a few rainbows from the shore. Campsites vary widely in size, so hard to say how many tents yours will hold. Bring the bug spray, but currently they are bareable.

Any Verizon cell service? Thanks

Barely. We could receive texts, not send or surf the web. Was spotty.

Is there a campfire ban right now?

Cameron Blok | Sep 14, 2019
Ed Keith | Sep 14, 2019

Nope. Usually campfires oitside of campgrounds are banned first and that hasn't even happened yet. Check the Deschutes National Forest webpage for updates.

Does this campground require reservations?

Rod Theer | Sep 14, 2019
Roger Garland | Sep 14, 2019

Not required, but recommended... Only the 10 sites nearest the water are non reservation. Everything else is. It can be hard getting in here as its popular. Most people reserve one space, then switch spots next to the water when someone leaves.
