I'm not a person to leave poor reviews, but this is completely justified. I've been playing at Maplegate for years and the course is in better shape than it's ever been. I've been playing at Maplegate every Monday evening since they opened for the 2022 season except for 1 Monday! Yesterday I called at 11:30 for a T time in the afternoon. I spoke with a young man named Connor who was great. I informed him I wasn't sure if I'd have 2 people or 4 people. He said no problem I'll put you in for 4 people and just let us know at the time of check in how many people you have. When I arrived I only had two people since it was so last minute. To my shock I was informed that I was required to pay for all 4 players. I said I only have 2 people. The young kid at the counter said "sorry that's the rules-see there's a sign right there, any cancellations within 24 hours are non refundable". I said but I called 6 hours ago and was told it wasn't a problem. I'd like to see documentation on how often this rule is applied. I've had similar scenarios, in many past years of golf, when members of my foursome have been unable to honor their t times and I have never been charged. It seems that this rule is applied at the unfair discretion of the pro shop staff and not in a consistent manner. Today, I felt harassed and unfairly taken advantage of. Rather than argue, I paid the amount and went on to play. I wrote an e-mail to Lenny French (GM), but haven't heard back. I live in the next town over and again play there every Monday. Needless to say that was the last time I'll be giving Maplegate any business.

I am not usually the type of person to leave a bad review, but after a few rounds at Maplegate this year I feel compelled to share my experience in hopes that I may help others avoid the travesty of feeling like you’ve wasted a round of golf. The course is fine. Could even say good. Nice tee boxes, fairways are pure, greens are fine. The layout is a little funky but that’s also not a problem at all there. The biggest issue here is the pace of play. I’ve seen a ranger on the course a handful of times, but those occurrences are few and far between. If you are looking to get out at twilight (after 4pm?), do not expect to play more than 9 holes. And if you can’t get out until after 5 you won’t even finish 9. The course is unplayable at these hours. You will wait 5 minutes for the tee box, 5 more on the tee box, and then it will be clear to hit and you can drive up to your ball and wait another 10 minutes for the green to clear. I am not exaggerating one but when I say that either. In terms of other times of day.. if you can get out at 12:30 pm on a random Tuesday or something you shouldn’t have an issue, but how many of us have that luxury? A weekend round will not be as bad as twilight, but it will undoubtedly be 5+ hours. The other things I would note that are nowhere near as bad of an issue as the pace but are still worthy of being noted are the carts and the greens fees. The golf carts are in dire need of an upgrade. “You might have to use the choke to get it going” is what they love to say. I sat there for 5 minutes pushing down and releasing on the gas pedal while nothing happened. And lastly, the greens fees. Just be aware of them. You don’t want to book a tee time over the phone for a weekend and then show up and they tell you your total for one person is $95 to play. The course is fairy pure but just go play somewhere else for that price.

Played a round there just over a week ago. The course is in excellent condition and the rangers were awesome. Cart kids brought drinks and snacks at good intervals too. Pace of play was slow but it is a great public course for this area.

Nice course but it is a lot of target golf.. That can slow up a round. I suggest getting out early to avoid to avoid slow play.. The greens we greens were slow but in great shape and rolled true.
