An old quote from Warren Buffet comes to mind, "Price is what you pay, value is what you get in return." What is the value for the warmth and character Cypress can provide, while also lasting many generations? Yes, its a bit rare so it would cost a bit more - but how about never having to re-side your house? Never worrying about termites? There are essentially 6 different grades of cypress, so there is always a grade that you can choose to fit your budget. Give us a call or email and let us know what you have in mind and we can point you in the right direction.
Yes it can David, especially if the grade is the legendary Heart Cypress (dark brown in color), which was commonly used in high-end yachts, shrimp boats, canoes, water towers, and framing and siding for windows and homes -before it became rare. If it has grayed in color from outdoor sun (UV) exposure, a quick sanding will bring back the original color. An oil-based stain with a UV-blocker will also maintain the color after it has been sanded. Give us a call and let us know what you're working with, and we can point you in the right direction.
We can provide delivery worldwide.
Not many companies will. The possibility of unseen hazards in the log cause a damage risk. Also, depending on the amount of time the log has been sitting it could be "too dry" to cut, that is to say that as the wood dries, it gets harder. The harder the wood, the higher the likelihood that the blade wont track straight and you'll end up with very lumpy, wavy lumber. That being said, call them and ask. Sometimes the owner will, sometimes not.
