Amazing park. 2 mile river walk/bike way, 2 piers to fish, central gazebo for events, playground, covered picnic tables and grills, bars/restaurants with abundant free parking. An unknown FL gem.
Just wondered if Joyce, Dale a fiddle player,Dan who plays guitar and the others will be at the park in May. We will be coming this year,my sisters, brother and I from Indiana and Michigan. The Thursday after mother's day we hope to see everyone.

I've been living in this beautiful town for five years. I visit Gilchrist Park often but I've never seen them I will ask around though and post anything I find out. Glad you're visiting this little slice of paradise
I've never fished there personally. But I see alot of regulars that fish there.so yes Gabriel you can fish there oh bring mosquito spray lol you'll need it.good day.
We love this park and stop by when we meet friends in the area. Is this park open? It looked like there was construction going on the last time we drove by.

Most of the park is open. They are adding to the harbor walk feature right now.
How bad are mosquitoes during mornings this time of year?

Right now, not bad. But rainy season just started. They can be rough.
Definitely not an activity for this park. I would hit the beaches for a swim. Ft. Myers if you head south. Englewood Beach to the west, and then Venice, and Siesta Key Beaches are North of Englewood.
Otherwise, Port Charlotte Beach Complex has a pool, but I've not tested the waters.
Have a good time, whatever you do!
Does anyone have a way of getting ahold of Joyce that plays and sing at the park. My 4 sister's and i come each year in May with our 86 yr. old mother to enjoy the music. Please help.
