This is the only winery we found on the trail that is totally unfriendly to dogs. And not very friendly to pet parents either! They ordered us to leave immediately with our 2 adorable, leashed, calm, 15 lb Cavaliers. We were happy to and take our $$$ elsewhere! We recommend Hopkins - they lavished attention and great service / good wine. Hawk Ridge was nice too!

What an enjoyable and beautiful place to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends. None of us had ever been to a Connecticut winery so we were not sure what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised that the wines were very good (yes we are bougie wine snobs I will admit). The tasting staff was very personable as well - shout out to Al - for being very knowledgeable and also for introducing us to the winemaker Joe who was floating around. We all bought a few bottles of our favorites and I know we will be back again.

Celebrated my birthday with a wine tasting here at Jones. Thank you Al for making my special day a memorable experience! Cannot wait to go back. -must try the blueberry lemonade cocktail!

Only during Christmas tree season. All others, PETS are not allowed due to edible produce and food safety regulations.
The Christmas tree season started on Saturday. Christmas Tree season began on Saturday. https://www.jonesfamilyfarms.com/farm/christmas-trees/plan-your-visit
$70 for harvest your own, no matter the size or species
Strawberry Season 2022 begins ThuJun2, and runs daily till the crop is finished. Mon-Sat 8a-5:30p, Sun 8a-12p. Reservations can be made via our website, an important and in-depth resource that should be utilized to learn about our picking containers, expectations for visiting the farm, etc. Also, it should be noted that for question on our "Homestead Farm" location - there are no strawberry fields at our Homestead Farm (though our Winery is here). The strawberry harvest alternates between our "Pumpkinseed Hill Farm" and our "Valley Farm" based upon where the most ripe crop is located. - Farmer Tom.
I believe that the redbud trees we obtained from a nursery, all had plans for where they were to be utilized around the farm. We don't have any for sale. Apologies - Farmer Tom.
There is a food menu and a wine menu if you are sitting at the patio tables. The food is basically charcuterie a la carte.
Yes Vanessa. We have all prior year ornaments available in our gift shop - Farmer Tom.
Our 'Candy Cane Hill' area is on our Homestead Farm, and open for parking on weekends and select weekdays, but guests can meander throughout those fields to find their tree at any time we are open, not just when cars can park there. Our 'Merry Berry Valley' area is on our Valley Farm, and open for parking on weekends only. There is no difference in trees between all locations on the farm, these names are simply a way we can give definition to the parking areas and manage their capacities via reservations on weekends. Our website has a 'PlanYourVisit' page under Christmas trees that shows a map of both farm areas with labels on the tree blocks as to their varieties. - Farmer Tom.
Our jams are available to purchase online, and pickup at our Homestead Farm curb-side. We do not deliver online orders, at this time. - Farmer Tom. https://jonesfamilyfarmswinery.myncrsilver.com/
We do not sell celery. Perhaps you have the wrong "Jones Farm" in mind? We are located in Shelton, CT.
We have no beans growing on our farm. Perhaps you are confusing us with another Jones Farm. We are located in Shelton, CT.
75 and it comes with a pewter ornament
We accept Credit Card payment during Pumpkin Season, however all Harvest Your Own Christmas Trees remain cash or check only.
Strawberry season started weeks ago, but that crop is not harvested at this farm location. Visit our WEBSITE for much more accurate information www.jonesfamilyfarms.com
Greetings Joanna, are you referring to Freshman in High School, or Freshman in College? Either way, they should stop and fill out an application (there are separate forms for those two categories). There is no volunteering at the farm, as with labor regulations, the work is done for pay.
It is seasonally available at wine shops, a listing of which is on their website. You have greater surety of obtaining it directly at the winery.
Depends on your definition of mini. Message then in their Facebook page. They respond pretty promptly there
Typical carving pumpkins are priced by size, and we have several reference tables throughout the yard to compare with. They range from $5 to $35 typically. Of course we have giant pumpkins and they are priced individually. In addition there are heirloom varieties and squash for cooking, which along with gourds are in bins and signs showing their prices by varietal.
We have already harvested some and started crushing those grapes, we have other varieties that are still on the vine and yet to be harvested. It really varies when it is done based upon the ripening of the crop (which has been pretty slow in this wet weather). When we are harvesting, there is equipment moving about, so it is not a public viewing activity. If you do have questions about our viticulture, I'd be happy to try and answer them. - Farmer Tom.
No there is not, but there is beardsley fairly close and they start apple picking on September 8th. JFF has blueberries, strawberries, pumpkins, and Christmas trees spread throughout different times of the year.
We do not have either type of trees.
There is not a fee per person. You pay for the crop you pick. This changes for the seasons. Go to their website as it is more robust than anywhere else you may find information
You do not need a roof rack on your car to transport a Christmas Tree. We do provide twine to help you tie the tree to your vehicle, but some tie-down cargo straps make the task really easy. Our YouTube channel has a great video to explain how to tie a tree down with twine.
The rules for dogs vary by season. During harvest times with edible produce in our fields (strawberry, blueberry, pumpkin), we must follow guidelines of health and hygiene. No "pets" are allowed in the fields at that time. (Service Animals trained to do work or tasks are an exemption) During the Christmas Tree harvest period (which is obviously not edible), dogs are allowed in our tree fields (see our website for advisory regarding this). No "pets" are allowed in our Winery's Tasting Room at any time (Service Animals trained to do work or tasks are an exemption).
Due to regulations for health & hygiene, "Pets" are not allowed in our fields when edible produce is being harvested, but they are allowed in fields during Christmas Tree season. "Pets" are not allowed in the Winery's Tasting Room. Service Animals (dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people) are exempt. See our website for further details under the particular season's crop, and the "Plan Your Visit" page.
There is no smoking (or vaping) allowed on any of our farm's property, indoor nor outside.
As this answer may be read in a future year, please refer to our website for the crop/season you intend to visit and the "Plan Your Visit" page. As of this writing in 2018: There is no entry fee to the farm. The children's playscapes have no charge to experience, and are intended to be both fun and entertaining, but also educational. During summer seasons, there is no charge to ride the Berry Ferry to the fields to harvest a crop. During pumpkin season, there is a nominal charge to experience the Hay Ride, or the Corn Maze (toddlers are gratis). We do not have a military discount.
