Very happy I found this place for my daughter. She struggled with an eating disorder the past three years... She worked with several other professionals with mixed results and never was able to connect with a therapist until now. She’s made great progress and I am so grateful for the team at PVD Psych. They are professional, caring, and responsive. The office is very comfortable and welcoming.... has easy parking too. My daughter is doing great and I am so happy. TEN stars if I could

I feel very comfortable with my therapist and therapy seems to be making a difference after only a few meetings. I am starting to feel less depressed and anxious and have discovered new ways to manage my mood. The office is beautiful and is close to my school.

PVD Psychological Associates provides a clean, professional and comfortable environment. My therapist puts me always puts me at ease when talking about my personal issues because they consistently make me feel like my feelings are validated. At first, the idea of seeking professional help was unnerving, but coming here has taught me that therapy is actually a tool and not a crutch. It is something that everyone can benefit from, I know I definitely have. For anyone feeling like they are misunderstood or going through a difficult time in their life, I highly recommend coming here. No matter the issue, I promise these people will find a way to get to get you through it!

Questions & Answers

Some therapists are more comfortable addressing the immediate problem, while others want to focus on the deeper issue. Which are you?

This is a great question. All of the clinicians at PVD Psych have training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and other research supported therapies, including psychodynamic therapy. Each clinician also has different areas of specialization. Our priority at PVD Psych is to focus on creating the best therapy experience for each client and working together to develop a shared understanding of what brings you to therapy and how best to help. Depending on your personal preference, therapy history, and what brings you to therapy at this time, dynamic, behavioral, or another type of therapy may be most appropriate for you. With regard to whether we focus on past or present, this depends on the approach that is indicated. Dynamic Therapy aims to improve relationships, increase self-awareness, and promote a sense of general happiness by addressing the root causes of underlying issues. In contrast Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance.....

Will Therapy Be Time-Limited or Long-term?

Thank You for reaching out to PVD Psychological Associates Whether it be a long term problem or temporary life circumstance prompting someone to seek therapy, we understand that every individual client, session, and situation is unique. Our therapists have expertise in specific modalities of therapy and utilize cutting edge, evidence-based therapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness strategies, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). We often integrate a variety or techniques which lend themselves to both time-limited and long-term therapy. We believe it is best to not only address symptoms in the here and now and create actual changes, but also to understand how things came to be so that you can accomplish real and lasting results in therapy. If you have time constraints or would like therapy to be time limited, we have therapists who certainly can help.
