Inquired about car rental. Prices seemed a little high. Minimum of 3 days and must stay local :/ I didn’t actually rent a car from there.

I was with my mother who scheduled ahead of time to rent a car for vacation inside the location of a hotel lobby in St Pete FL. Mother called ahead again two days before arrival due to a compromised credit card. Not to be a problem staff said, b/c mother obtained temporary card. Got to car rental place, and learned staff would not accept mom's license, insurance etc. b/c credit card was temp. and they would not call her bank. My credit card could not be used b/c I have a state ID and am VI. Location was dirty and shady. People were lined up and waiting for 1-2 hours. Rental car tried to eventually push my mother aside while customers were up in her personal business. Went elsewhere. Do not recommend.

Saw the ad $25/day. Not sure how you get that rate, I paid $350 for 6 days. The car was not as clean and nice as a normal rental but it drove fine. Smelled really bad like smoke. You can’t drive over 80, it dings when you reach 70-75. I was not aware of the 300 miles cap before I got there, I ended up going over by 132 miles. Rental fee, license query, Covid decon, .22 per mile overage, rental surcharge, tax on the rental fee and tax on the extra charges plus what I paid to get there from and to go back to the airport: $531. Very nice guy to work with but I don’t know if it’s worth it just to not go through airport car rental. Good for people who have trouble renting cars through the major companies.
