Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews

We went there on Saturday July 16 at around 5pm. There were many empty tables, restaurant was about 1/3 full, but we're told that there was a 30 minute wait due to being short staffed. That's cool, we'll sit at the bar. Sorry, no bartender, you can't even sit there. You'll have to sit in these uncomfortable seats in the waiting area until we can get our act together. Why can't you seat customers at tables or booths, explain the wait, and perhaps offer a comp drink rather than tell someone no we can't accept your business right now due to our incompetency? What kind of manager turns customers away like that? I went to the Red Robin in Plainfield instead and received prompt courteous service. Never tell a customer that you can't help them, unless you want to fail in business!

Hit or miss, depending on the day or time. We usually get take out now due to COVID-19. Staff won't even acknowledge you if picking up. Not even a hello or thank you. Food is usually correct, but sometimes we get very undercooked burgers or incorrect toppings. When they are "on" the burgers are good.

So moving that a local restaurant would take the time to set up a memorial to the 13 who were killed and the injured in Afghanistan. That's a 5++++ in my book! Usually restaurants have a star item, but here everything we tasted was delicious from the perfectly cooked burgers to the steak fries to the amazing drinks. A huge standout was the Raspberry Cream Soda that served as eye candy with whipped cream on top. As with all restaurants, seating was slow as there was only ONE food server when we arrived. But soon a second showed up and by then the ordering and food arrival were quick. Red Robin serves amazing gourmet burgers plus AMAZING everything else too!

The was maybe six tables with others at the same time a us. We enjoyed our meal over some cocktails, and almost had the place to ourselves with two of your granddaughters. Our meal was great, the cocktail did not WoW me. They did not have Southern Comfort! Mmm I did appreciate the service . . . once we got seated. Times are tough keeping a staff. Thanks.
