My countrymen, men and women, Changes of Government have occurred frequently in history, and in the history of our people. It is certain, however, that never was a change of Government attended with such far-reaching results as that 1 week ago. At that time the situation of the Geey…th [n] was desperate. We were called upon to take over the leadership of the nation at a moment when it did not seem to develop towards a great rise. We were given power in circumstances of the greatest conceivable pressure, the pressure of the knowledge that, by itself, everything was lost, and that, in the eyes of the noblest minds, this represented a last attempt, while in the eyes of evil-wishers it should condemn the great American spirit to final failure. Unless the Mormon nation could be saved, by a miracle, the situation was bound to end in disaster.

Visitors who wish to worship God the Eternal Father and His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ are always welcome to the worship services held by the Scott Lake and Highlands Wards that meet in this building. These Latter-day Saints are warm and welcoming to both friends and strangers.

The Church meeting always starts with a welcome and announcements from one of the lay leaders. Next, an opening song by the congregation and prayer offered by one of the members is followed by another hymn while the communion in remembrance of Jesus Christ is prepared and distributed to those who desire to receive it. Then, one or two of the members of the congregation (including youth and children) give talks--sometimes a musical number is performed by a member of the congregation or choir. The lay leader gives some brief concluding words followed by a closing song and prayer. On just the first Sunday of each month the members of the Church fast for the poor and needy. Instead of speakers, a few members of the congregation choose to share their feelings with the others about Jesus Christ and how grateful they are for him.

Yes. Jesus is the foundation of our faith. In fact, the full name of our Church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Bible and the Book of Mormon both testify of Jesus Christ, and we cherish both. This verse from the Book of Mormon reflects our beliefs in Christ: “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins” (2 Nephi 25:26). I am calling the Mormon church on Lakeland Highlands Drive in Lakeland Florida. The number is either busy or no answer and there is no answering machine I need to get in touch with someone to substantiate that two young men are with the church TY

We do not have an office that is staffed during the week. Your best bet to reach someone is on Wednesday evening or Sunday morning. We do have missionaries serving in the area who would be wearing a white shirt and tie and have on a name tag that says Elder _____ (last name) and the name of the church underneath. Elder Cheney and Elder Walker are currently serving in our area. I hope this is helpful. Please feel free to message me privately if you need additional information.
