I rented a Lost Campers Sierra Dodge Caravan for a solo trip to Burning Man festival. There was an extra fee and minimum rental period, but it was still very fair. I shopped around and others were charging way more, plus many had garish logos emblazoned all over their vans! Given the burning man fee, there were no big demands to have the van completely spotless when dropped off. Just vacuumed, with water tanks and cooler emptied. I did run it through a car wash twice - that dust just keeps coming out from everywhere! So very sympathetic to the extra fee. The van itself was great. Quite torquey for someone more used to driving VW campers in the UK! It had some good features, like cruise control and air conditioning. The bed was comfortable and kitchen well equipped. The sink and cool box were pretty handy! Plus a table and some chairs. My only minor gripe would be with the lack of Bluetooth, but just come prepared with a 3.5mm mini jack adapter. I was very kindly given an inverter for charging the phone! No shortage of information on the van’s features. I didn’t risk the awning since there were some big winds ripping through the playa at times, although that did look good. Communication from the company was amazing throughout. All the paperwork was completed digitally in advance. A contactless out of hours pickup and drop off was offered. However there was somebody in the office to assist with all that in the end. Huge props to Chelise for helping with all my questions before, and Nick for going over and above to assist with the pickup and drop-off. I would highly recommend this company to anyone considering hiring a van in the California area!

This is a review from a burning man trip we did with Lost Campers. In summary, I would highly recommend Lost Camper for a playa (and camping) trip. The vehicles are reasonably priced, good for burning man (we got many positive comments about our setup) and they don't make a big fuzz about people going to the playa Pro: - Burning Man friendly, they charged a 500 USD burning man fee and require a 10 day minimum rental period. Compared to others those terms are quite fair and I compared quite a bit. No hidden fees or charges. - Vehicle is practically built, though not very large, you get the car AC (running on battery), a little kitchen with all essential utensils, gas stove (BYO gas), sink, outside sun shade setup, electric cooler (which we were able to run through the entire week whilst charging the double batteries regularly by running the engine every once in a while), regular power outlets in the back and a good bed for two. We had the Moab, it's tight though it was big enough for our luggage and we were able to put one folding bike in the back, it could probably fit two with some effort. - Very responsive and friendly folks working there - After hour return and pickup with no issues (all the paper work is done online) which is really perfect as we could pick up the van late in the evening and return it on a holiday, plus a very convenient pickup spot right in SF Cons: - The van was rather old, so it didn't have USB ports for charging in the front or Bluetooth. Best to bring a car charger and an AUX adapter along if you want to listen to music or charge your devices while driving - Specific to our rental, the grey water tank hose was not attached to the grey water tank and we didn't notice right away. That made a bit of a mess, so best to check all that before you drive off.

We were on the road in California with the camper for 3 weeks and everything went really well. The handover was easy, the camper was clean and the trips all went smoothly. We are very thankful for this holiday which worked out so well with the help of Lost Campers. 🤩

Awesome experience, would definitely rent again! But be sure to pay San Francisco toll ahead of time because the vans don’t have easy pass. It’s only mentioned in the binder once and I wish it had been posted more visibly, bummer cause they will add a service charge. Regardless, we had a great time and they even got a very important bag back to me that I had left in the van! Thank you!

Hi Margie, we do allow well behaved dogs to travel in our vans. There is a $55 pet fee and you do need to vacuum all visible fur before returning the van. Please be sure to specify that you are traveling with a dog at the time of booking, when reserving online, just type the info in the remarks field. We look forward to getting you on the road! Cheers!

Can you pick up in San Francisco and drop off in Seattle Washington?

Hi Verta, Thanks for reaching out. We no longer have a location in Seattle. We only have the three locations. Two in California and one in Utah. Please let us know if we can help in any of those locations. Cheers Nick

We have 1 small dogs. Are they allowed?

I think they may have recently changed the rules about pets to allow them. You should call and check, I think there's likely to be a pet fee of some sort.
