My mother came here for rehab and were both displeased (me more so than her I think). Mom is doing better and I'm grateful to the staff that helped make that happen but her progress was slow (partially because they went backwards in her care when she first came in), they misdiagnosis her, and there were issues with her case worker as well. Most of the staff seemed good and caring and helpful but the overall way things were run is far from perfect. Is it the worst rehab? No. Far from it. My mom was safe and cared for. But it was far from what one might want for their care, too.

My family has been associated with Asbury Kingsport’s Long Term Care Facility since January 2018. My family member was one of the first residents to move in and we love the staff that have cared for our family member. However, the list is long on the things we have had to deal with especially in the last year in a half with the new administration…internet/phone/tv not consistently working, housekeeping is practically nonexistent and there is not a check list that is visible to know when the room was cleaned, however if you send pictures of the issues you seem to get a better response, laundry not being done or is sent out and then comes back without a name and the staff has to try to guess who it belongs to, having to eat all meals in their room alone or having to keep their door shut due to droplet contamination just to name a few. When trying to deal with our concerns there is not really have a person to go to because they cannot keep administrators. If you have a nonverbal family member I would think twice and not move in. Thankfully my family member was able to communicate the issues especially when we could not get into the building.

Asbury Place at Steadman Hill has truly been a godsend for our family. We needed to find a place for our mom rather quickly but did an extensive online search followed by visiting assisted living facilities in person. Deciding upon Asbury Place was the best decision we could have made. I live out of state but spent some time helping my mom transition there. The common rooms are really nice and always clean, and my mom’s room is spacious with a little kitchenette and large bathroom. But what stands out the most with Asbury is that each and every member of the staff is absolutely wonderful. From the administrator, and the head nurse, the techs, LPNs, food services, and maintenance, they are all incredibly caring and most competent. They go out of their way to make my mom (and all the residents) feel comfortable and secure in her new home. This was a very difficult time for our family and Asbury Place was able to reduce our stress and worries a great deal because of the care my mom is receiving there. My brother lives locally and continues to say the same things. They are amazing! I speak with my mom twice a day and her consistent message to me is “they are taking such good care of me; you don’t need to worry!” She is really enjoying the food and activities also. Most of the staff has been there for years, and we see the same ones daily and they always make us feel welcome while we are there visiting. When my mother-in-law was in another AL we would see a high changeover in staff, so it was clear that they didn’t really know our loved one. This makes a huge difference, and we understand that much of the Steadman Hill staff have been there for many years. They are like family. We cannot express our gratitude enough to each and every one of the staff at Asbury. It is obvious that they are happy to be there and that truly enjoy the residents and caring for them. The atmosphere is very warm, friendly and feels like a close-knit community. We are most appreciative to all the staff and will be forever grateful that they helped us when we needed it most. Asbury Place at Steadman Hill is the absolutely the best!

This place DOES NOT have a diabetic menu. If they do the dietician doesn't know about it. Sherry told my niece they give smaller portions of regular food to diabetics. Every day my sister's sugar was high but they kept on feeding her …
