The park has many nice hike trails and the views are awesome. The trails going up the mountains are moderately challenging and not shaded. From the top you get an amazing view of the park and the east bay. Entrance fee is $6 and there are many parking lots inside with a lot of spaces.

Beautiful lake and mountains. Make sure you check the weather as there is no shade for hiking so it may get really hot and sunny. There is also a dog park in the park.

Very nice park for a weekend hike, especially in Spring when the rolling mountains are green. Many people play paraglider too. Very cool to see them launch from the mountain top.

One of the best places for hiking. Beautiful sceneries. There we can find a kids play area and a small lake and bbq place. I am sure kids enjoy this place. For parking the car they are charging 6$. Once you enter the park there is no network service

Trout are planted every so often. There are also Black Bass, Bluegill and Catfish.
Please do cut the trails down! SVFD has done a great job around their training facility but the trails along Calaveras and behind the "campground" area are almost not passable the milk thisle and mustard are so tall.
Please see the following planting schedule. https://www.dfg.ca.gov/m/fishplantings/Details?county=Santa%20Clara&water=Sandywool%20Lake
Yes, you can.
Google-map the directions for distance precision.
Yes it is. Till sunset only. So closed at 4:50pm today!
I don't believe that dogs are allowed to swim. Because people are not allowed to swim.
Maybe you... we all hope.
The parking has been waived off now
In good faith I recommend you research this on the Department of Fish and Game website. https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/regulations
Yes you can keep it Having CA fishing license
I don't think so as there are no camping area there
Trout during winter and spring. Catfish during summer and fall. Should be trout right now.
There could be, but I see them more often on trails. If there are a lot of people around, it's very unlikely that a snake would hang around. Just keep your eyes open. They aren't aggressive - people typically are only bitten if they disturb one - trip over it or poke it, which is dumb.
Full of water, not sure about fish though
While the gates may not be open, I still often hike on the trails before 8am (sunrise). If you don't mind a little extra walking (3/4 mile), you can park outside of the park near the corner of E.Calaveras Blvd and Piedmont Rd. There is usually plenty of street parking without time restrictions. In Google maps you can see how the trails intersect with Calaveras Rd to enter the park on foot.
I heard about sail boat races at Sandy wool lake. Check with the ranger about this.
Sandy Wool Lake is full if weeds from the bottom you lose more hooks and weights then fish. I will not return beautiful scenery though
Thank you guys=) I got the license excited to start my first ever fishing experience ha
