River's Edge has great views of the river. It's a great place to walk the trail, ride a bike, and much more. It is one of the most scenic and open areas, so it's great for all ages to come and enjoy.

Questions & Answers

Are parts of the trail closed due to flooding? If so, which parts?

Jane Schroeder | Jan 31, 2019
Sarah Yoder | Feb 1, 2019

Two short sections are currently closed at the Federal Courthouse under the bridge and upstream on Bay Drive. As water levels continue to rise, areas under the bridges and close to the bank will likely have water on them.

How long is the trail?

Pat Rustand | Jan 31, 2019
Sarah Yoder | Feb 1, 2019

The trail is almost 60 miles, which includes trail on both sides of the river as well as North and South Shore dirt single track trails.

Does the trail get plowed in the winter? Is it safe to ride a bicycle if it is?

Parts of the trail get plowed, but there can be a lot of ice in the shadows, and so be extra careful. The West Side trail, from 15th Street upstream is often the clearest in the winter, unless there is a lot of snow, because there is less shade.
