Absolutely terrible service. Unnecessarily rude, demanding, and clearly doesn’t treat every customer the same. I’m out-of-state, visiting family, and was hoping to pick up a 6-pack for dinner. The male and female clerk asked for my license (I’m 27) and instantly assumed it was a fake. They demanded to see another item with my name on it, so I showed him both my debit and credit cards. He then stated, “Our policy doesn’t accept out-of-state licenses.” Speechlessly, I grabbed my cards and walked out the door. There is no “no out-of-state license” policy. There was no sign in or outside the building that stated, “We don’t accept non-NJ licenses.” Am I now not allowed to drive from one state to another? If I get pulled over, will my “out-of-state” ID not be accepted and I end up getting arrested? What’s the purpose of this country’s identification system when citizens think it’s illegitimate? A completely ridiculous, nonsensically frustrating experience.
