Questions & Answers

What do I have to do to get on your KAP program and how much does it cost?

The first thing is to just pick up the phone, we will schedule you for an initial consultation with one of our Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) therapists. If it sounds like KAP may be helpful, we schedule a psychological assessment to determine if you are a candidate for these services, followed by a medical assessment with a collaborating psychiatrist. If you are qualified you will be set up with weekly sessions that last approximately 3 hours in length. The initial 90 min assessment is $300 and each 3 hour KAP session is $750. Some people find relief after just one or two sessions and some complete a longer treatment of 6 or more sessions.

What is the difference between IV infusions and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy?

That is a great question! Ketamine IV infusion therapy is approximately 40 minute infusion similar to the feeling of getting your blood drawn. It can be helpful for treatment resistant depression but requires regular treatments. Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is designed to use the neuroplasticity and psychological flexiblity that happens with ketamine to help make therapy more effective. It is designed to get to the root of the problem. With KAP, you are provided a prescription that you will take during a clinical session with a therapist. This will allow you to be in a dreamlike/hypnotic state that your emotional blockers minimize and discuss things openly. This will allow you to get to understand your emotions quicker then general therapy. This is an approach designed for lasting change.

How does therapy help? Talking about stuff doesn’t fix it.

Just talking isn't always enough but therapy is different. Therapy can help heal old wounds, teach skills to help you function better in your life, and help you understand the reasons you do things that cause you problems.

Bay Area Mental Health | Sep 10, 2021

Individual therapy sessions are 50 min and the fees is between $165-$200 depending on which therapist you see. Group therapy fees range from $75-$100 per 1.5 to 2 hr session. The length of time you will be in therapy depends on what you are hoping to achieve. We work with you to determine your goals in your first few sessions.
