I was referred here when my dog's vet found some signs of an infection in his tooth. The waiting list was insane but from the sound of it, they're really busy because there are only 3 animal dental clinics in the Bay Area. When I finally got Bear in for a consultation, Dr. Farcas was wonderful. He explained everything and lavished compliments about Bear. He was incredibly thorough with his explanations and the possible courses of treatment. Months later during the actual procedure (a root canal), Dr. Farcas called me before getting started to let me know that the infection was most likely from before I got Bear. I got emotional thinking about the pain he's been in and Dr. Farcas showed empathy and explained to me that the cost would go up due to the extent of the infection. He gave me the choice of a total tooth extraction to reduce the cost and told me about the impact of both procedures. Given how stressful this was for me, Dr. Farcas and the clinic were wonderful in giving me lots of information, but enough to make a good decision. I would absolutely recommend them. It was expensive, but I think worth the kind of care and compassion he showed to me and my dog.

Dr. Riggs cared for our kitty like she was her own pet. I am always nervous about anesthesia, but Dr. Riggs took the time to write a very thoughtful email to help set me at ease. We have had two operations at ADC and will come back for a third if needed in the future. They keep you very updated throughout the entire procedure with text messages and pictures. This place is pricey, but for us it is worth the peace of mind that my cat is getting the best care.

The most caring vets with your pet are here. They talk through all issues with you so you feel comfortable with procedures. Highly recommend their service.

This place is amazing! They were great with our vet-fearful pup when we needed to bring him in for a root canal. Not only did the whole thing go smoothly, but they did other super helpful stuff like trim his nails while he is sedated (no easy feat when he’s awake), and texted with me throughout his appointment to keep me updated.

Questions & Answers

How much does it cost to get a tooth extracted?

Thank you for reaching out. There is no "per tooth" extraction fee to share. Cost for consultation is $125 as of 9-2020. At time of consultation, patients are examined (with particular attention to the oral examination and general health as it pertains to the patient as an anesthetic candidate) and concerns/findings are discussed with the pet owner. At that time, pet owners are presented with a treatment plan and cost estimate. Costs for treatment are based on surgical time and complexity, anesthetic time and complexity, and patient's medical needs. Our expert team uses state of the art equipment and techniques in each patient's highly-customized care plan. Please browse www.animaldentalclinic.com for more detail.

How much does it cost for a basic teeth cleaning?

This inquiry seems simple, but takes a long answer. We are a veterinary dentistry and oral surgery referral practice; we tend to see patients with severe oral disease or significant anesthetic concerns. Cost for initial consultation is $125. At that time, we evaluate a pet in terms of general health and oral disease, and as a candidate for general anesthesia. That allows us to set expectations for treatment, post-treatment care, cost, and scheduling. In many pets, plaque and calculus are the externally visible manifestations of oral disease. The previous response shows how talk of cost for dental care requires input from the care team, and oral diagnostics to plan treatment. Most of our patients are referred by veterinarians for complexity of anesthetic care or severity of oral disease. There is certainly much to be put in context about treatment of the previous respondent’s 5-lb. dog with 1-year-old mandibular fracture that 2 previous veterinarians attempted to address.
