Nice big Campground. There is plenty of space for one big car on each spot. Alot of moskitos and a not so clean river near it. Toilets are non flush toillets so it smells a little.

Decent place to rest your head then head out to explore the surrounding area. Didn't find much else to do at the campsite unless you are a fisherman. Camped in spot 19 which was next to the main street to exit, and, as we learned, to enter as well. For a campsite the number of cars and trucks driving through was above average due to the fact that that main street goes through on the other side to an access road that must be pretty popular. With two young boys that was something we had to pay extra attention to. We actually spent most of our days about 3 miles up the 299 at another campsite using their day use area with a big beautiful swim hole. If we had to do it over again we would have stayed there for $8 a night instead of $18 at Cassell. These guys visiting us daily made the stay a bit better!

Nice campground, not too busy. There were lots of campsites available. Bring your fishing pole & bug spray. Nearby is Crystal Springs Hatchery and Baum Lake, further is Burney Falls.

I am the area manager for the Shasta Watershed and am stationed at Cassel Campground. I assure you that at this time you can have a fire in the fire rings.
It was open at that time last year but it changes. Last year I stayed free as the host hadn't left yet. No fires allowed. Only propane type stoves. I just left from there today.
It was lovely last weekend and maybe half full. Campground host is a super nice guy. Dark skies at night and ospreys catching fish during the day.
Yes.
Yes you may reserve campsites at Cassel Campground if you go onto the PG&E reservation site. www.pge.com/ recreation

Our Campground doesn't open officially until April 6th I believe. I am Steve, the area manager for the Shasta watershed and all of the campgrounds in that area belonging to PG&E. We do have a loop that is open right now but until the season begins there is no trash receptacles opened and there is no water. This Loop is first come first serve of course.
Once a week.

Yes, they do have quite a lot of spaces but for holidays and weekends you'll want to get there early.
I work up there for pg&e. I am pretty sure they do have group sites.
No reservations, first come basis.
