I recently went to RMA for egg freezing. I was referred to Dr. Copperman by a very good friend of mine who had a great experience with him and got pregnant through IVF. My initial consult with him was fine, but my experience with RMA and Dr. Copperman was very disorganized and uncaring. I had 3 different Fertility Coordinators in a year, and different nurses would call each time with instructions. There was no central point of contact which signaled a high turnover. They don’t show you how to give injections. They also told me that I didn’t have any fertility benefits; when in fact, I have excellent fertility benefits that cover 90%. They also called me half way through my cycle, and said my tests were expired (after a year). I was a bit shocked they didn’t catch this and let me start my cycle with expired tests, which means no one had looked at my charts prior to starting treatment, and they were basing my treatment off of old information. However, my biggest complaint was that my cycle was cancelled on Day 8 with no explanation. A nurse called me to deliver the news, and had no explanation why my cycle was cancelled. I asked to speak with Dr. Copperman and was told his next available appointment was in 2 weeks. I demanded to have a call with him or another doctor sooner, so I could know why my cycle was cancelled. He called me the next day. When I spoke with him, he had absolutely no empathy and basically told me I would not be able to have children on my own, and that I was a good candidate for an egg donor. This was my first cycle, so I was really upset by his delivery and also unwillingness to another cycle. He seemed irritated that he had to call me and was very rude and uncaring. It was a very upsetting call. When you’re dealing with fertility, you need to have empathy for your patients as this is a very emotional process. I went to the Brooklyn location for my monitoring and had a good experience with the doctors there. I wish I would have chosen to work with a doctor there, as I think I would have had a much better experience. I would not recommend RMA. You’re treated like a number with little care or guidance. I’m in the process of going to another doctor to get a second opinion. Save your time and money and avoid this place!

Unfortunately, this is not a good place for people looking for supportive fertility care. It is a cold, factory-run environment where critical information about your personal care is not shared with patients (customers). According to their policy, they do not do 3-day transfers, nor to they tell you how your embryos are developing until you get into the stirrups for the transfer. Do not expect that information to be in the portal either. I would honestly give this clinic 0 stars, but I cannot.

in this place your health is not important, here the money and charging you more is their best ability. they should shut it down!

We used RMA to conceive our third baby. Dr. Lucky Sekhon was our doctor. I told myself before we successfully concieved that I would write an honest review even if the outcome wasn’t what we hoped because I was impressed by my experience from the beginning. This was first based on the kindness I felt from the staff and doctors. From the front desk who greeted me every day, to my coordinator Jennifer Needle who patiently guided us through the process, to the nurses and staff who drew blood and so on, everyone was consistently kind, understanding, and professional. The clinic has an efficient, data-driven process in place so that it runs like a well-oiled machine, to maximize our odds of success in the most timely manner possible. I know from my experience with other doctors that RMA NY covers EVERY base, giving the right tests, addressing any and all possible obstacles right away, and timing things as perfectly as possible. I know even more now, in hindsight, that I was in excellent hands. My obgyn actually said “wow. Someone was taking good care of you” as he looked at my records. Dr. Sekhon impressed me because she seemed a perfect balance of science minded and empathetic so that I felt I received the best care possible while also feeling emotionally supported. One thing I will point out is that I feel i would have been better prepared for emotional ups and downs if I’d realized that it’s quite normal for an egg retrieval to not result in a viable embryo the first time, and that the second retrieval could produce a very different outcome. I would not have been as crushed when the first one didn’t work, had I really understood this from the start. In the end, I am holding the most perfect 16-week-old baby in my arms as I write this. I don’t think I need to explain my deep gratitude for the people who helped me get here.
