May 2022: This was my second visit to the Green Animals Topiary Gardens in Portsmouth (pronounced Portsmith), Rhode Island. My first visit was back in late summer 2014 when the pond had friendly and charming frogs that swam up to visitors' hands, kissing them. This time, there were no frogs because they hadn't been brought out to the pond due to the cold weather. The garden is continually changing with the seasons. For spring 2022, there are thousands of tulips in the gardens. In the late summer, berries grow on the vines. This location is hard to access by public transportation. If you have access to a car, that is the best method to visit the gardens. The house was closed when I visited in 2022 and it was as well back in 2014, so that was a disappoinment. I've been to some of the prettiest gardens in the world, including the famous one in British Columbia, and Green Animals ranks as my favorite because you can spend hours here if you desire to do so and arrive early in the day. There is no tour guide who says you have to finish within a set time. Peaceful and colorful. You can get an annual pass and even add a guest option for $100 so you bring a different friend each time you visit.

We started the day at The Breakers and got the two property ticket to come visit the Green Animals. It's easy to cover the gardens in under an hour. Be sure to grab the guidebook it has a mini "scavenger hunt" to find the various animals in the gardens. This is fun for children and adults.

Cute place! Nice hidden gem near Portsmouth Abbey. One of the properties for Newport mansions pass. Enjoyed seeing all the flowers and the shrubs shaped like animals. There is a nice yard near the water that would be a great place to picnic. Spent 1-2 hours here

We were visiting the garden on Saturday, I thought it would be huge. It took around a 15 minute slow walk to see the whole “place” It was nice I loved the flowers and they were very unique because of the shape couple of bushes, but my opinion, overpriced.

Oh that wouldn't be a problem, it's for personal use. Thank you!!
Green Animals Topiary Garden is a part of The Preservation Society of Newport County - Newport Mansions. You can buy tickets for a single house (Green Animals Topiary Garden is $18) or multiple houses (including The Breakers). You can find more information at https://www.newportmansions.org/plan-a-visit/buy-tickets-memberships
No. Season began in April and I'm not sure when exactly it ends
It is located in Portsmouth, RI.
You can buy tickets at the entrance.
No unfortunately 😪 only service and they ask for the paperwork We had our dog with us but we have a backpack so she was inside all the time
I'd say 50/50. Some of the paths are probably too narrow for wheelchairs, while the main paths should be ok.
$18 for adults, $8 for children
This is not a hotel.
I'm sorry, I don't speak good Spanish, Not very pretty
It's best to call them
We went through in less than 30 minutes but your tour could be longer or shorter depending on your interests
You would have to call them, it probably depends on how many people are on the bus
See website
. Higher
Closed for the season. I believe they open in early April.
I'm not sure. It's 17 for senior adults. Keep your ticket and you can use it to visit other places in the Newport area
Do you have available wheel. Hairs for elderly? Also is the topiary garden wheel chair accessible?
