According to our research, Miss Auburndale 1965 was Karen Miller.

Did Pierce Florida have by any chance a RR junction for N-S trains as well as E-W? My Mother was born there in 1921 and no one in the family every lived in Pierce. I think my Grandmother may have been traveling from Macon GA to Orange FL .

According to local phosphate historian Richard Fifer, Pierce was only on a north-south railroad. In fact, the phosphate mining company that owned Pierce built the railroad from Pierce south to Boca Grande, where it subsequently built a phosphate shipping terminal. This railroad was named the Charlotte Harbor & Northern (CH&N) Railway. In 1928, it was acquired by the Seaboard Air Line Railway. After completion of the connection to Boca Grande in ca. 1910, all of Pierce's phosphate was shipped out of Boca Grande. The CH&N also carried passenger traffic. It connected to the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad at Achan Junction, approximately two miles north of Pierce, which allowed passengers to travel from the Northeastern US down to Pierce and Boca Grande. It also allowed a connection to the East-West Seaboard line that ran through Mulberry. Hope this helps - you can always contact us at 863-534-4386 if you have any more questions.
