This will probably seem odd to many of you. I've never been to this store. Nor have I ever met the owners or employees (and I'm not related to anyone connected with the store). So why the 5 stars? My wife and I recently bought a house in Chesapeake, VA and we wanted to buy some new furniture. We found a sofa at a store in Suffolk, VA and selected the fabric we wanted and put it on order. A couple of weeks later, the store contacted us to tell us that our fabric selection had been discontinued. No problem, right?? Wrong! COVID-19 had all of the stores in VA and PA (where we live) and the factory was closed down. Even if the store had been open, it's a 900- mile round trip to choose a fabric. And selecting a fabric based on a JPEG online wouldn't cut it. We were able to narrow down some choices online, then called the store in Suffolk to ask if they could send us samples. They said "yes" but could only find 4 of the 6 were of interest. One of the missing samples was ruled out but the 6th one was of great interest. Desperate to have our selection made when the factory re-opened, I emailed FlexSteel but their response was to get in touch with a local retailer. Saxony House Furniture was reasonably close by and I sent an email via their website's Contact Us link. A week later I got an email from Kim, who works for Saxony House, asking if I'd been able to find a swatch for the missing fabric. When I told her I had not, she pulled a full-size sample and sent it Priority Mail, asking only that I return it by early May when they hoped the COVID restrictions would be eased and they might be able to re-open. Without being a customer, Kim treated us like we'd been doing business with them for years. With all of the stress of COVID, a delayed move and a sofa delivery delayed until late summer (if we're lucky), her customer-centric response and understanding is appreciated more than I can put into words. So, if you're in the market for some furniture, support your local retailer and stop by Saxony House Furniture. Imagine how they'll treat actual customers.

Their website says Memorial Day might affect the hours of 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. best to try to call any of their three locations in advance
