Great scenery all around. The building and exterior are well maintained. Came here for a business event and everything was very beautiful inside. Definitely a place to come and drink their glass of wine. I could not stand to be outside due to the flies and mosquitos literally everywhere on everything. It is understandable that we are in the outdoors but there must be a remedy to solve the number of insects.

I think there were a lot of pros and cons about this location, but my impression of it was pretty mediocre. The biggest pro was the views - extremely serene and relaxing, definitely a place that you would want to sip on a glass of wine and just enjoy with company. It was nice that you could bring your own food to the place, there was outdoor seating that was well set up that was comfy. Cons - the wine was mediocre, there was really no body to the wine tasted too light on the palate almost like you were drinking flavored water. I think the tastes were interesting but still pedestrian in quality. Also the flies, there were SO MANY. It was unreasonable, I understand being outdoors and insects etc, but the fact that I was swatting at flies the whole time I was drinking wine is just unacceptable, a couple flies sure, but there was literally a swarm of them. Finally, the interior decor - I felt like I walked into a senior center community room, it did not give you a winery feel. All in all, there are much better wineries in VA, we went here due to the proximity to where we were staying, but I would not come back here and we definitely didn't take any bottles home.

Beautiful scenery and tasty wine! Just wish they weren’t serving their tastings in tiny plastic bottles.

We got married her 5 years ago (amazing) so a bit biased, but went back Today for a glass of wine. Really good. It was mulled wine (hot) and it was so good. Great vibe. Great views. Friendly staff. Worth the short drive from JMU

Bluestone takes credit cards for any purchase. Thanks for asking.
The only split bottle Bluestone has currently is the ice-style dessert wine called Blue Ice. The port-style wine, Dry Dock, is 500ml. All other bottles of wine are 750ml.
They have some food available. In the tasting room they offer fresh bread and olive oil as well as different options of meats, cheeses and crackers. They also invite visitors to bring picnics or food from local restaurants and on some occasions/events they may have a food truck or two attending as well.
They have 4 different tasting lists...a white wine list, a red wine list, a sweet wine list and a reserve wine list. It is $6 for the white wine, red wine or sweet wine lists and the reserve wine list is $9. They also have the added option to have the tastings served in a Riedel glass for an additional $6.50 and you get to keep the glass with this option. That is an extremely reasonable price for a Riedel glass and it will completely enhance your wine tasting experience so I highly recommend it.
The tables are picnic table, so there are benches with the tables.
The next Wine and Watercolor class will be Sunday, August 26 from 2-4 pm. The painting is an underwater ocean scene featuring whale. Please let us know if you have any questions!
