Of the 3 BLM ranges I've been to, this is the best. 4WD on the way in, it's a long and windy road. There are some homemade benches onsite, plenty of room for 4 groups, some shade, trash everywhere, and a long range. Parking is back from the line, so you have you haul your stuff up a small hill. Solid place though. Pick up your brass on the way out or they'll close this place down.

Excellent shooting range! No payment to shoot. It's free all day long. There is no range master. Just use common sense and safety. There are four large tables with seats. If all the tables are full people are nice enough to give you a spot. RANGE CLOSED through August until sometime most likely in October. On July 20th, 2017, a fire started at the range from people shooting, so due to fire hazards you can't shoot.

It goes just past 400 yards. There's a roughly 8-foot tall by 10-foot wide metal frame at 400 yards to hang steel targets on. There's a berm at about 200 yards, and another at 350-ish.
It's open.
You can shoot rifles, shotguns, pistols, old flintlocks, whatever. All are welcome on cow mt. Just please take your trash out.

It's usually only closed if there's like a fire or some kind of thing going wrong up there
