Great Japanese BBQ restaurant. Love the place, we have been there few times. The wait is long in the weekend. We prefer to go on weekdays. The quality of food is great.

Meat/ Food. 5/5 I always do the set menu to simplify ordering for a group. You can't go wrong w any of them. Set menu offers a good variety of types meats + salad and additional sides.( Look at my pics) You can always ask the server if you are not familiar ..they usually ask if you are a newbie so they can guide you through the menu. My favs are Kalbi, pork belly, and shabu shabu . Dipping sauce = spicy ponzu and soy sauce options. If you have vegetarian's in your group..not to fret. They do have veggies for grilling and other veggie options. Interior vibe: 4/5 Reminds me of those small Izakayas in Japan ..low lit, cozy wood interior booths. There is alot of grilling , excitement, people chatter and servers moving fast. High energy restaurant. Service: 5/5 Servers are the best ..hands down . It's one of the reason this place does so well year after year. They are super attentive .all work together...even if they're rushing to deliver someone else's order , they will look at you listen , just amazing. Sometimes they may have 2 servers . 1 lead and 2nd in training. Tag teams are always more efficient.

Came here several times throughout the years. Always had a pretty good experience. I like their beef cuts the most (eg short rib, filet mignon, skirt steak). Service is pretty good, meat also tastes pretty good especially with rice. Their sukiyaki hot stone bowl rice is good too. I like it when the rice gets crunchy on the sides of the bowl.

Loved Gen Kaku! We'll definitely go back. My wife and I had a little dinner date and decided to try something new. Wasn't too crowded for a Friday night, they walked us through the restaurant to the back and there was a decently nice outdoor space with extra seating. We ordered a happy hour set with 3 extra meat dishes a la carte, plus a pitcher of beer. The grill was clearly a backup, but they changed the grill when it needed it and the service was very nice. We ended up spending a little over $100 for everything but felt it was worth it. We were stuffed and still had a tiny to go box when we were done. Definitely loved the pork belly, new York steak, and marinated thin sliced ribeye. Don't miss out on this great little spot!
