The team is amazing. Worked with them for more than 4 years and they helped on with my visa, green card and eventually citizenship. Enjoyed working with them so much that I stayed a s a client even as I moved across the country and will continue going forward. Priya was always super responsive and I would hear back within 24 hours. The entire team was great to work with. One big plus is that you can upload all the documents on their portal so you don't need to keep making trips to go there.

Ms. Alagiri was patient and posseses an impressive range of knowledge regarding immigration law. She was able to very quickly help me avoid making serious errors in my case, and was more than willing to discuss the various avenues I could pursue, and the pros and cons of each of them. I was impressed with her demeanor, knowledge, and professionalism. After trying to reach a number of attorneys who never even returned my calls, Ms. Alagiri's responsiveness and willingness to educate me regarding my case were incredibly refreshing. I would highly recommend that anyone seeking an immigration attorney call The Alagiri Immigration Law Firm FIRST.

I worked with The Alagiri Immigration Law Firm regarding my wife's immigration case. My wife's immigrant visa was denied due to unlawful stay (which was incorrect). My wife and I had contacted the Embassy but we had no luck, so we consulted with Priya and her team (Pooja in particular). After carefully reviewing the case, Priya provided potential steps that we can take to resolve our case in timely manner. I had discussed my case with other lawyers but found The Alagiri Immigration Law Firm to be the best at immigration related matters. They looked through my wife's case with a magnifying glass and found a small mistake by the border patrol officer. Priya advised us on who to contact to fix my wife's I-94 expiration date. After following her advice, we were able to get my wife's I-94 date corrected. My wife and I are very thankful for her guidance and would definitely recommend The Alagiri Immigration Law Firm to anyone seeking immigration help.

In general, the fastest way to get citizenship is through naturalization. Naturalization is a process whereby a foreign national applies to become a citizen of their country of residence. The requirements for naturalization vary from country to country, but typically involvede monstrating good moral character, having continuous residency for a certain number of years, and passing a civics and/or language test. For many people, the quickest way to citizenship is through marriage to a citizen; however, specific requirements for this vary by nation as well.

In theory, a person can apply for U.S. citizenship on his or her own. However, the process is complicated and there are various categories under which a person may apply. Any mistake in the application or applying under the wrong category may ruin the chances of getting citizenship. I am an immigration lawyer, specializing in U.S. citizenship matters and I have seen small mistakes negatively impact the application process of those who did not have expert support. I would strongly recommend that you consult an immigration lawyer for advice and guidance on the best way to proceed.

What's the easiest way to get a U.S. visa?

Brian Kevin | Jan 10, 2022
The Alagiri Immigration Law Firm - Immigration Attorney, San Mateo, CA | Jan 10, 2022

There is no single “easy” way to get a U.S. Visa. Your application must be based on your reasons for visiting the country, your qualifications, financial status, close relatives living here, and various other factors, depending on the type of visa you are applying for. I have been a U.S. immigration lawyer for many years and know that each case must be processed according to its merits and the circumstances of the applicant. My objective is to make the application process and quick and easy as possible for my clients. Visit my website to learn more about what I do and how I do it.

Can I get a divorce while waiting for my green card?

Brian Kevin | Dec 11, 2021
The Alagiri Immigration Law Firm - Immigration Attorney, San Mateo, CA | Dec 11, 2021

Divorce is a drastic step and is taken only when there is no other choice. That being said, getting divorced while waiting for your green card can affect your chances of getting one. The presumption is that the divorce ends the relationship under which the Green Card application was made and so it is no longer valid.

Robin Williams | Nov 11, 2021

Legal issues like the renouncing of citizenship and the associated forms and procedures are never easy to understand. What's the easiest way to get a U.S. visa?

If you have a good enough reason, the right papers, and the right advice, you can get a US visa easily. To get a US visa, you need to have all the papers that the US embassy asks of you in order. If you are going for a purpose, like a visit or an event, there are different kinds of papers that you need to get together. If you are going to study, you need to get those papers in order. Getting the help of an agency that can help you put together all these papers and walk you through the steps and paperwork is a good idea.

The Alagiri Immigration Law Firm - Immigration Attorney, San Mateo, CA | Sep 8, 2019

A rule revoking or removing the H4 EAD has not yet been published. A proposed rule was sent to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on February 20, 2019, and is currently pending review. Once OMB completes its review, a notice of proposed rulemaking will be published and will be open to the public for notice and comment. The proposed regulation will not take effect until finalized by the Department of Homeland Security, a process that typically takes several months. Unfortunately, the text of the proposed rule has not yet been made available to the public.

If someone wants me to sign a letter of recommendation for an O-1 visa and the letter is a bit over-the-top, should I just sign it anyway?

Support letters should be a true representation of the applicant's accomplishments. Inaccurate information could come back to hurt him or her; for example, when applying for a green card through the EB1 visa category (which is veryt common for O-1 visa holders). The EB-1 visa requires much more documentation and evidence, and you don’t want any of the additional pieces of documentation or evidence to contradict the O-1 support letter you submitted.

Yes, as a legal permanent resident (“green card” holder), you can sponsor your spouse, children, and unmarried sons and daughters (age 21 and over) for a green card under the family-based 2nd preference visa category. The first step would be filing the Form I-130 (the green card application cannot be filed until your visa priority date becomes current).

Staying outside the U.S. for more than 6 months could raise questions upon your return. Generally, though, you may be found to have abandoned your residency if you have been absent from the U.S. for 1 year or more. If you know you will be out of the U.S. for 1 or more years, then you should apply for a Re-Entry Permit.
