I attended an event last night at the amphitheater produced by the Bristol Riverside Theater. Everything was fabulous— the show, the Stylistics and also Eddie Holman, the staff, including the volunteer staff and facilities! I especially want to commend Nate Wilson for his eager, professional and superb service and kindness! You are so lucky to have someone like him in your organization! He typifies what customer service far exceeding expectations looks like! Bravo!

It is fair to surmise that most of the audience had previously witnessed the award winning 1992 movie with the same title “A Few Good Men.” Here we are 30 years later at the Bristol Riverside Theatre compelled to relive incomparable lines such as “You can’t handle the truth.” And note that there are no disappointments by this fine group of thespians. From the moment the marines appear on stage, standing perfectly straight, their uniforms meticulous, their diction loud and clear, you realize you are in for an entertainment treat. Marching cadences accompanied period movement of troops throughout the play. On stage, off stage, to and fro, you could feel the pride of the marines. Parden, actors playing marines. These folks didn’t just memorize their lines; unit, corps, god, country; for a few hours they lived it. People watching this presentation started to sit a little straighter in their seats when the marine and naval officers discussed the fate of Dawson and Downey. The dialogue was at times irreverent and jocular. You can’t help wonder if this is how law is actually doled out by the judge advocate general. There were few liberties taken from lines of the original movie. And that is a good thing as they were near perfect today as they were 30 years ago. You could feel the immense differences between LTJG Kaffee, first to pitch humor at others. Then the solemn and prepared response from LTCDR Galloway, who doesn’t miss anything that Demi Moore proffered. The balance from Marine First LT Jack Ross, always predictable, always true to the Corps values. The stage design and crew deserve the highest recognition. Fast moving, numerous scenes, lighting highlighting the critical moments. If anything, I was concerned that they missed the members area, the jurors that would ultimately decide. Then, an epiphany – the audience were the jurors here. And if I could count the number of encores and bravos, they surely decided in favor of seeing “A Few Good Men.” Start the evening at King George Inn (200 feet away) and enjoy the new everyday menu. Lots of choices!
