Amazing! Anything an individual or family needs help with is available through recourses provided by the helpful staff. CSL has positive, conducive solutions for many of our barriers.

I've become very familiar with this agency It is one of the best run in the city. The staff is equally helpful to everyone who comes here. Their compassion is stellar constantly trying to find the best and most helpful sources for all their clients. Anyone left homeless or without resources to care for their families and themselves..look no further. You will be helped.

When you feel you have hit rock bottom they are they to help you get back on track. Very kind and always helpful. If it weren't for them I would be on the streets. So please people if you need help put your pride to the side and go to the Community Sevices League. I promise you they will help and make you feel hopeful again. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars. Thanks for all you do.

We partner with United Way's VITA tax preparation program. Their service, and the volunteers they placed at our organization, ended last week. Please dial 2-1-1 on your phone to be connected with United Way and ask them who is providing tax assistance.
Erik - we have several locations and you can find info about them at www.cslcares.org/locations. There is also contact info on those pages. It would be best to call first so we can share the things you need to bring. Thanks!
Depending on fund availability, we sometimes can help with rent. All financial assistance is done through a case manager, so you would need to go in person to a location and speak with a case manager.
Maybe if u fill out the paper work . They can send it in for you.
If you live in Independence, please visit to www.cslhousing.org to learn about Independence CARES Act Utility Assistance. Thanks!

We don't have an office to assist Clay County residents. Please call United Way by dialing 2-1-1 on your phone and ask them who provides that assistance in Clay County.

Bruce Bailey has retired from CSL.
No.
Hi. Yes, we are doing taxes. You may sign up at https://www.cslcares.org/free-tax-preparation.
There is the Salvation Army. They can help with Christmas, Housing, Food, and Furniture. Community Service League is a good resource too.
We will have a Saturday food pantry on 12/19. Please note that it will be held at the Community of Christ Auditorium. The entrance is across from the Independence Amtrak Station. Time is 10a-1p.
Only if these things have been donated.
Not right off but I can do some research. Are u in independence area
We are open for appointments for Income Supports, Housing Counseling, Employment Services, and Financial Coaching. We are also still doing remote coaching sessions. Drive-thru food pantry service is still happening. If you can let us know what you're interested in, we can help set an appointment. Thanks!
The doors open at 8a, and we start helping families through the food pantry at 9a. We break for lunch from noon-1p, and resume food pantry service at 1p. Thanks!
Through our partnership with Kansas City Medicine Cabinet, we can help with emergency dental extractions. If that's something you need, you can come into one of our offices and visit with a Case Manager.
Barbara I had my 9 yr old son walk in today at 1:44pm cause i had my 1 yr old son in the car with me and they told him they were already closed.
No
CSL has a small pot of money that we can get new MO birth certificates. If you need another state, we'd suggest you call 2-1-1 and ask United Way who in our area might be able to help with that.
Typically, we invite families to use the pantry once a month. Our Site Managers do have the discretion to allocate more pantry visits if needed. We have several food pantries, so depending on the one you access, please ask to speak to the Site Manager.
Denise - the pantry is open M-F, and each day is open from 9a-1145a, and from 1p-245p. We help people from anywhere. We'd prefer for you to bring proof of residency (utility bill) and IDs / Social Security cards for people in your household. Thanks!
For the food pantry, you just need to walk in. Our food pantry hours are 9a-11:45a and 1p-2:45p, Mon-Fri. Employment Services, Financial Coaching, or Housing Counseling typically require an appointment.
Becky - sorry for the delayed reply. If you have any further questions about taxes, please call 816-254-4101. Thanks!
Jim - we run our pickup service out of a different office. Please call 913-342-1122 and explain your situation. I’m sure they’ll do everything they can to accommodate. Thanks!
There are lots of things that go into consideration when looking at financial assistance. For many of the assistance funds that we operate, there may be residency requirements, issues about how late the bill is, etc. For that reason, we can never guarantee assistance over the web. However, we'd encourage you to come to our office and speak with a Case Manager. We encourage anyone seeking energy assistance (gas, light, etc.) to apply for MO LIHEAP funding. You can fill out this form - https://dss.mo.gov/fsd/formsmanual/EA-1-Application-for-the-Low-Income-Home-Energy-Assistance-Program.pdf. At the bottom of the form, there's an address where residents of Jackson, Clay, and Platte Counties are to mail their applications.
Teresa - thanks for asking. Many of our business areas have been dedicated to our Christmas Store operations, and we've been a little behind on phone calls. We do have your message, and one of our Financial Coaches is calling you back this afternoon. Thanks for your patience.
1 month I believe if its a registered pantry on Google. If not you can go anywhere you want !
Theresa - it depends on what type of service you are seeking, but this should answer most of your questions. http://www.cslcares.org/eligibilityresources
Michael - typically, we support families with food every 30 days. Thanks!
Brenda - we will do our best to help. Can you come into our office and visit with one of our Case Managers? We're here today until 5p. We are closed over the lunch hour.
We can never guarantee assistance to anyone over phone, email, or internet. You can bring your most recent bill(s) and walk into our office to discuss your situation with a Case Manager. We are open 8a-noon and 1p-5p, Mon-Fri. We need to meet with people because many of our funding sources have specific requirements related to things like residency, total household income, number of people in the household, etc., etc.
We make the food pantry available to a family once per month. However, if there are extenuating circumstances, you're welcome to come in and talk to our Site Manager, Ashley Beck, about your circumstances. Thanks!
No, you don't need an appointment. Please note this pantry has hours of 9a-11:45a and 1p-2:45p Monday-Friday. Thanks!
Yes, we are just to the north of the bus station.
Catholic Charities, Seton Center, Bishop Sullivan. If they don't have funds, they will probably have better information on who does. Also say that into Google on you phone. Say "help with utilities cancer victims"
Through our partnership with KC Medicine Cabinet, it is two years on eyeglasses from the anniversary date. For example, if you got eyeglasses on July 5, 2016, you could come in today (July 5, 2018). Thanks for asking! If you meet this criteria, you can walk into our Noland Road office at 404 N Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64050. We're here 8a-noon and 1p-5p.
