While visiting LA, we knew we had to visit a Shanghai see restaurant as my family is Shanghai see and we haven't been able to go back and visit in years. In general, the cuisine is pretty authentically Shanghainese and in general it was quite delicious though a few dishes we ordered were just okay. The star of the show is the rice cakes with crab - make sure you order this dish! We also loved being able to converse with the waitstaff in Shanghainese, and everyone was very helpful and kind. We'll definitely visit again next time we're in LA!

My mom likes going there. The flavor is good. This is a Shanghainese restaurant, which means the food will be slightly sweet because that's just Shanghainese flavor. I personally don't much care for that.

Do not eat there the service is horrible. Today New year's day we when to eat there & ordered many dishes one of them was Xiao long bao, took a long time to get all the foods but did not get any ginger slice only an empty small dish with it. I put vinegar on the small dish & ask for ginger slice. The waitress have the nerve to say I am using the dish they cannot get ginger slice to me. I said it's a big restaurant you don't have more small dishes to put ginger slice on it. You want me to empty the vinegar & give you the dish to get ginger slice. Ridiculous. When we were finished & asking for the bills, we have to wait several minutes, just to get their attention to come to our table. They also took a long time to come back with the visa card bill. The point is they are not that busy, only customers in 3 to 4 tables, including us at that time and have 6 to 8 empty tables. Their prices are not cheap.

My go to Shanghai food restaurant. They have all the Shanghai food stables and do a good job on the flavor, very close to the Shanghai style of cooking. Every time I go, I would order the pan fried pork bun(生煎包), mung bean noodle with preserved vegetables (粉皮), scallion pan cake ( 葱油饼),pan fried Shanghai sticking rice cake ( 上海炒年糕),rice cake crab (年糕炒蟹)and Xiaoniu long Bao (小龙包)。The flavors of these dishes are pretty authentic. When you go to this restaurant, at least order one of these. The only bummer is that the lunch special menu had gone, only the dinner menu now available which came with double prices. The services are not too bad. When we were, the waitress greeted with a friend smile and then brought tea out for us after we were seated. Food came out relative quick. The inside is very bright and clean. Parking is also easy as the restaurant is inside a big shopping center with plenty of outdoor and underground parkings.

Questions & Answers

At noon on February 1st, the braised pork featuring dinner was $18.95 plus tax takeaway. But it is very pitiful, the cauliflower is few and black, and the meat is only six small pieces.  I also ordered two lunches, no meals, and a small amount. Really, I

Hi, thanks for asking. We highly value our customers' safety, we are protected by Ecolab. They have many products which be used in our restaurant to protect both our employees and customers such as sink & surface cleaner etc. Since we still only have to-go service, there is no direct contact between our employees and customers. We sterilizing the restaurant daily including kitchen, restroom, bar, tables, and all other public areas. We require all of our employees wear facial mask in our work place. We also provide sanitizers in our restaurant for customers to use in many different places. When you come to our restaurant to order the food, we place the menu in a separate table, you can browse the menu safely. Again, thanks for reaching out us. Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can serve you better.

Did you formerly own the Mandarin Chateau Restaurant in Chinatown? The food there was delicious, but the restaurant no longer exists. If your cuisine is identical to that of Chatueau. I would drive to the Shanghai to eat. Vance Martin
