So many people here complaining about it... Anyway, they're there to help you if you help yourself. It's a free program and free job training. You meet people in similar walks of life and its in SD County, where there is a lot more Job Opportunities than other places. The only reason for the four stars is because other students who don't take the program seriously can ruin it for others. Make friends, but stay away from the idiots.

Helps you get your life in order,if you want to get out of your comfort zone and get the things you need in order to survive and you if you lack the social, academic and basic living skills. I highly recommend this program. And this is coming from someone that lived with their parents until 21 I'm almost 22 and getting everything that I need in a very short amount of time. Stop wasting time and get it together here!!!!!!!

I've been here for about a year now and I plan on leaving. The SIA Tech HS Program takes forever and I'd honestly just consider that if any one wants to go to a Job Corps that they'd go to a different one rather than SDJC

I am live about 3 ours away from San Diego, originally. I went in 2012, and I loved it! But i ended up getting homesick, and the program i did, was very short. I didn't feel like i would have been equipped for the job. I loved living there because, it's, one, san diego. lol Two, its free and three, I met awesome people. I wish i had stayed for another trade, but I continued my studies in my hometown, and have joined the military. One day I will head back to san diego again. :) It is not a horrible school, you just have to stay away from drama and BS. Stay focused and get what you went there for. Its like a vacation if you aren't from that area lol seriously. I also recommend do everything and anything you can while you are there, because SD never gets boring.

You go to roberto hinijosa
Absolutely yes.
Depends. If you work, or have children you can live out center.
Its different with every student. Sometimes is fast and sometimes the waiting is long. Like me, i had to wait three months to get accepted and enrolled.
Yes, there is an auto techician trade. You can go to the orientations on Wednesday's to get better information about it, or check the job corps site. Thay have good information there too.
A job corps applicant must: Be a legal U.S. resident; lawfully admitted permanent resident alien, refugee, asylee, or parolee, or other immigrant who has been authorized by the U.S. Attorney General to work in the United States; or resident of a U.S. territory. Meet low-income criteria.
Ahy they have a little class for those who don't know English. There are also some counselors who speak Spanish. Even the director speaks Spanish. But it wouldn't be bad to know a little. You will be surprised how many Latinos there are. It's you'll be fine.
When living on the dorms there is a leadership that you can be in, where you are a leader on dorm and in charge of a set of students. There are captains then vice president and the president, these two students get a mini fridge from the center and are allowed a small TV (small enough to fit inside a locker). The fridge is given to use (a hand-me-down on dorm) and the TV we have to bring ourself.
You can live here up to 24 months maximum unless you are granted the wish of an additional year for certain qualifications being an emergency or the college program they have here. Requirements regarding being here are based on federal rules so common sense I believe is the first to come. If you meant more in depth such as dorm rules or campus rules not qualification rules, that depends on when you enter and whose your RA upon dorm. Hope this helps
So first things first! It’s trades! We have culinary, security, hotel & lodging in one building together. You go a little out and we have another bigger building consisting of the major hard trades being plumbing/electrical, painting/flooring, brick laying, carpentry, and plastering/ cement. Go out more to the other side and you get CNA, pharmacy, office administration and same with medical. There’s computer tech as well in the area as for trades. Then you go out a little further and it’s welding and auto. Beside the trades the other coverage of campus is the nurse’s building, cafeteria, recreational center, front entrance building, driver’s ED, High school/ GED, and then staff who help with transition and everything within that matter
Its sodexo, food at this place is not for picky peolpe. But they have a plenty amount of good vegetables. So it is possible to eat healthy.
Yes. Its legal at your residence in California, however job corps is not a california program. Its a federally funded program. Weed is still illegal in regards to the federal govt.... So if you smoke it off campus and get tested, you will most likely get kicked out. Its a zero tolerance policy.
Being a good pain in their ass by calling every other hour really gets their attention I’ll tell you that much
If you put all from your side and take advantage of what they offer you it is a great oportunity to take.
Yes; it’s to get an idea of your intellI hence. But just like any job or job training entrance, they have to see where your head is at in the current turn of entrance

It is open during summer
The only thing Job Corps offers is pharmacy technician. She probably has surpassed that by now so I don't think that'll be helpful to her.
