Absolutely the most horrific experience I have ever been subjected to. I have been trying to find any way to justify the treatment I received from the person (and condoned by the supervisor); but I have been unable to do so. Furthermore, I had just visited another part of this same NPO, upstairs on the third floor, (the Helping HUB is on the ground floor.) Not only was I not "helped", in any way as the name would imply; but I was treated as though I was just like the derelict (or derelicts) that had just broken into and robbed my apartment . I am not a very outgoing person. As the years go by and my illness worsens, I have chosen to journal more and speak less. I am very private and have problems trusting others. And while I had just met some truly lovely folks who work in a different division of the same organization; it was as though they had originated from different planets. Asking someone else for help is not something I am fluent in. But I am very respectful and I have no idea how much damage that one office has been allowed to do to others. The Church has done a lot of wonderful work all over the world. But the Wilmington, NC Helping HUB is the antithesis of both its namesake and the purpose of its very existence.

Very disappointed at the treatment I’ve received today. I came here on October 17, 2018. Due to the hurricane and me being out of work longer then expected I need assistance with my light bill. Awful, I couldn’t even give them my name and number to call me back. They had me call a number while being in the lobby. Really inhuman how they treat people. I came here before and the services were a lot better. You would think they would still have that same level of care during a crisis but they don’t. If you don’t qualify they will send you to Isaac Church: Beware they won’t even take your name until an hour later if you do decide to wait. Just awful, I got help at the Help Hub within 30 mins. And gave me paperwork to fill out soon as I walked in the door. And they won’t turn you down long as you go within the hours of service.

They have snack/food bags, hygiene items, and water available. A caseworker can also assist with navigating resources in the community.
The Diaper Bank of NC - Lower Cape Fear can take those items! https://ncdiaperbank.org/lower-cape-fear
They don't do rental or deposits under their emergency assistance program (it's utility assistance), but the Help Hub on the first floor of the same building or the Sister Isaac Center at St. Mary's Basilica may be of help!
They have Case management that could possibly help with finding housing but I don't want to promise anything :)
They don't have any financial assistance programs for cremations, funerals, or other end of life services.
Typically they do, however their notary is gone until Summer of 2022
They don't, but depending on what you need there's Wilmington Treatment Center or Trillium Heath may be of assistance.
