Great southern food. Can't believe no one has told me about this place. Had the fried chicken with Mac and cheese and fries. All of it was good. The corn bread was also great, and I'm not a big fan of corn bread. Can't wait to go back this weekend to try more menu items. The burgers looked good at the next table. I highly recommend this place.

I came in just for some iced tea. The service was excellent and the tea was great, so I'm betting that everything else is great too. The tea had a deep tea flavor and wasn't watered down like tea in some other restaurants. It was perfectly sweetened and there was just enough ice to keep it cool. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the walls had lots of photos, signage, and other vintage stuff. I felt like I stepped out of quiet Third street in San Francisco and stepped into a diner next to a highway somewhere from the early 2000s.

There aren't a lot of restaurants that I find myself willing to go out of the way for, but Hard Knox is one of those places. During lockdown and the first half of 2021, there were times I absolutely missed coming here just because I missed their cornbread muffins. It's comes with any meal you order from them and when you have it at the restaurant, it's piping hot and the butter just melts into all the nooks. It is absolutely terrific. You can always order extra as well, if you so desire. When I finally felt safe enough to go out and enjoy a meal at a restaurant, this was one of the first places I decided to go. It hasn't been very packed the last couple of times, so I haven't had any issues with service. But the food is still wonderful as I remember. The last time was my first time having the blackened red snapper and it was so good. The fish wasn't dry and the seasoning was just right. I picked collard greens and red beans and rice as my sides and those were really good as well.

Stopped on a whim and was surprised. It’s kinda hard to get great food in the bay. This is an Unfussy diner. The chicken was really good.

They have been open through out the week days. Just not sure what time open and close.
My condolences. There is a Muni train, the T line, that stops near or around the front of the Hard Knox Cafe. I don't know what area part of the city you stay. to muni.com and look for the buses in your area that may connect to the T line. Another tip is to use Google maps and put in the address. Make sure you select transit as it will show you which buses and trains to take.
Most likely a mistake I just went there 2 weeks ago and got a fork with my togo order... Human error ?....
