Standish was the perfect place for my brother to recover from several surgeries before returning home. The food and amenities were great but mostly he loved the people. Both the staff and residents are pleasant, kind and accommodating. We loved the special events like movies and cookouts! Thanks once again Standish!

I want to thank the team at Standish for the help they have been with transitioning our family member who has to for her safety, but does not want to be in assisted living. They are great at communicating with me on a regular business no matter how big or small the issues are. Julie and Hilary are always available. They have helped make our family member become more comfortable in the facility. She currently attends almost every event and loves Lauren and the programming staff. She has even been a few COVID safe field trips. She speaks highly of Mike who helps her with her maintenance issues. She has been challenged with her health and Jessi and her staff have stepped out to help make her feel more comfortable going to them for assistance. Jessi has gone above and beyond communicating with me as well as her doctors. She even did a Zoom call with her doctors which we couldn't even get her to do when she was home. I know transitioning a loved one who doesn't want to be in assisted living is heartbreaking but the staff at Standish does all they can to make it a better experience for all.

I want to thank the entire care team in the Memory Unit for the love and attention they show my dearest friend Sonya. .The amazing Ericka Foley recently presented her with the Standish Village Lifetime Achievement Award and party which commemorated her work as an architect and ceramist and her volunteer work for rescued animals and her sheer goodness inside a shy exterior throughout her life .I have not seen her so happy in five years of declining dementia. This gives me the greatest comfort. A shout out too to Patrice and Anna and Linda for all you do to care for her . Louise Hall .

I first visited Standish Village looking for a place for my mother. It was far and away the nicest place we visited-beautiful settings, great food, interesting programs but most importantly the warmth and welcoming staff-from executive director to cleaning crew won our hearts. Since then I have also experienced Standish Village as a community partner. If every community had a partner like this is would be a much better world. Patricia McCormack

Do they take Mass health of mass.

Patty McNulty | Sep 7, 2018
Standish Village Assisted Living & Compass Memory Support Community | Sep 6, 2021

We do not accept MassHealth (medicaid insurance). However, we DO accept another special insurance program that helps offset the monthly cost, and we can help you access it. Call us for details! We also accept the Veteran's Aid & Attendance benefit for veterans and their surviving spouses, which can provide over $1,000/month. If you are eligible for this government benefit, we will put you in touch with a consultant that can help you with all the paperwork, for free. Some people opt to share an apartment with a roommate and that also brings the cost down. Finally, If you have long-term care insurance you can use that toward your rent. Give us a call to learn more!

I have 5 years experience working to memory care and assisted living but i don't have CNA and HHA certificate. Can i apply to standish village for caregiver job?

Great question! Many of our communities do offer a PCA training program to provide caregivers with the requirements and skills to work within Assisted Living. This is a 54-hour training program (paid) in addition to our standard training. We do offer this training at various times throughout the year, so if you are interested in that program, we would love to hear about your interest and let you know when it will be scheduled. Simply give us a call.

Do you provide help with dementia?

Yes. We are highly respected throughout the Boston area and the South Shore for our dementia care. Our staff is highly trained, and many of them are Certified Dementia Practitioners. Our community has a Compass Memory Support Neighborhood within our building. It’s a separate, secure, intimate neighborhood with 13 private and shared apartments with a lovely dining room and some common area spaces, as well as an outdoor patio. We are very active in the local area providing education on dementia through our Dementia Friendly Communities Initiative. We also host a monthly Support Group for families, and we support Memory Cafes in Milton and Quincy. If you are feeling like you could use some support, visit our website to get details about these really awesome local resources.

What are the apartments like?

People love our apartments! Because we are located in a renovated historic mill building, our ceilings are very tall and our windows are VERY large which makes every apartment feel spacious. All of our upper-floor apartments have really nice city views of church steeples, the famous Baker Chocolate Factory and tree tops along the Neponset River. We have a wide variety of unique layouts available, more than the typical assisted living community. Also not typical are our very large two bedroom apartments. In fact all of our apartments are very spacious, among the largest in the area. Come in and take a look for yourself!

Do they give insulin to those who need it or is that not administered here

Ariel Panameno | Sep 6, 2021
Standish Village Assisted Living & Compass Memory Support Community | Sep 6, 2021

Thank you for your interest in Standish Village! Assisted Living regulations in Massachusetts outline that our associates may assist in setting up ancillary services for residents to receive assistance with the administration of insulin but that our staff are unable to provide this service themselves. We can absolutely recommend that residents work with their physicians to see if oral medications would be effective to manage their diabetes. Also, if the resident is able to self administer their own insulin through reminders and cues, the resident may be appropriate to participate in the Self Administered Medication Management program.

Is there a trolley stop near this place

Quala Baker | Sep 7, 2018
Standish Village Assisted Living & Compass Memory Support Community | Sep 6, 2021

Yes! We are located on Adams Street in Lower Mills right near the start of Dorchester Ave, accessible by public transportation. The closest trolley stops are at Adams/Elliot Street in Milton Village, as well as the Butler T stop - they originate in Mattapan Square. From the trolley it’s a short walk to our building. We are on a bus route that goes down Adams Street - the closest stop is Dorchester Ave @ Washington St. The bus schedule for this stop can be found here! We are just 1 mile from Ashmont Station on the MBTA red line. From Ashmont Station, look for Bus Route 24. (Bus schedules can change, so keep an eye on the MBTA site.) Also, Cedar Grove train station is less than a mile!
