I just converted our range from electric to Propane. I wanted to purchase a tank, have it installed and connected to the supply line our plumber had run to the exterior. I reached out to a few companies asking for quotes and Paraco was not only the cheapest, they were also the most thorough. By this I mean they sent out the installer (John) to take a look at the location and make sure there would be no issues. Every other company wanted me to verbally describe the site (one wanted me to send them pictures) and did not send anyone out to take a look before providing a quote. John was very knowledgeable and also a really nice person to deal with as we figured out where to place the tank. Shortly after John left I received a quote from Cherie and after a bit of back and forth she provided clear direction on exactly what needed to be done before they could install the tank. Once all of the pre-work had been done, Cherie scheduled me for today between 11 and 2. John was here at 11:00 and was all done with the install by 11:25. This included placing the tank and verifying the stove was functioning. I really appreciated the professionalism and the finished product. I highly recommend giving Paraco a try.

The gentleman that came in to service my propane fireplace was knowledgeable and was able to evaluate my problem in a matter of minutes. He made some recommendations that I have followed up on and it seems to be working better already. Together we looked up the pilot assembly that he suggested that I have replaced. He indicated that you may have a problem locating the part because of its age. After he left, I searched the web and was able to find it with no problem. Th price on the web was $89.00. So I’m sure you’ll have no problem locating one. The only thing that was interesting was he never introduced himself, so I don’t know what his name is.

Company we were with were bought by these guys. We were paying slight north of 100 a month for propane and never had an outage. These guys let us run out twice during the winter and said the solution their manager provided was to pay 400 dollars a month. We only use gas for cooking and hot water and we have a newborn. Seems very shady to suggest that kind of option during winter as an energy provider. I did shop around and picked another provider with much higher set up costs but given the ongoing cost with them, even with 700 dollars set up we broke even in the 8th month with a new provider. Also we have 2 12 gallon tanks with them which they replace and never tell us how much they use on a monthly basis. New provider has a usage gauge so if we find out even with more people at the house and we use under 24 gallons a month this winter then it doesn't take much to put 2 and 2 together.

Propane is a clean and incredibly versatile fuel source most commonly used for heating and powering certain home appliances. Stoves, barbeques, water heaters, clothes dryers, pool heat, spas, lighting and hearths are just some of the many uses for propane. Propane is also a sought-after energy choice to power standby generators.

How can I tell if there’s a propane leak in my home?

Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021
Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021

Just like with natural gas, a harmless odorant – usually mercaptan - is added by propane companies, giving propane a distinctive “rotten egg” or sulfur-like smell. If you believe there’s a gas leak, immediately evacuate everyone from the house and call your local propane provider or fire department from a neighbor’s phone or from your cell phone OUTSIDE AND CLEAR OF YOUR HOME.

Is propane safe for my family and me?

If you believe there’s a gas leak, immediately evacuate everyone from the house and call your local propane provider or fire department from a neighbor’s phone or from your cell phone OUTSIDE AND CLEAR OF YOUR HOME. Make sure everyone in your home knows what propane smells like. Your propane provider can help you with this. Get to know it right from the start.

Can a propane tank be installed somewhere other than my yard?

Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021
Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021

Yes. Underground storage tanks have specialized features allowing them to be stored beneath the surface somewhere on the consumer’s property. They are a popular option for single-family homes and housing developments and can be buried underground because propane is nontoxic and doesn’t contaminate aquifers or soil.

What size storage tank do I need if propane is my main energy source?

Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021
Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021

The best size is determined by usage requirements. Typically, a 500-gallon tank holds enough propane to meet the annual energy needs of an average four-bedroom home. There are 1,000-gallon propane cylinders which may be needed for larger homes with swimming pools, spas and hot tubs.

What is a Safety Survey? Do I need one?

Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021
Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021

During a safety survey, your technician will test your propane system for proper operation and safe installation. They will perform a test(s) on your gas line and propane container to ensure they are leak-free. They will also make sure that both the propane container and your appliances meet all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) guidelines.

Why do I need to have a leak check?

Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021
Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021

Leak checks are required any time there is an interruption of your gas service - meaning any time the flow of gas in your home is stopped for any reason. NFPA 54 (2017) states, “Immediately after the gas is turned on into a new system or into a system that has been initially restored after an interruption of service, the piping system shall be tested for leakage. If leakage is indicated, the gas supply shall be shut off until the necessary repairs have been made.”

Why isn’t my propane container filled to 100% capacity?

Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021
Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021

Propane is delivered and stored in liquid form. Propane liquid expands nearly 17 times more quickly than water over the same temperature increase. As a result, propane containers are filled to about 80 to 85% of their capacity. This allows the propane liquid to expand freely with changes in temperature caused by hot days, cool nights, rain, snow and other factors. Because of these temperature changes, you may see fluctuations in your container gauge - this is normal.

What is a tank monitor and how does it work?

Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021
Paraco Gas | Sep 5, 2021

A tank monitor is a cellular receiver that reads the amount of propane in your propane container and sends us a report each day. It is a great solution for customers who aren’t eligible for automatic delivery because they have a “sporadic use” appliance such as a fireplace, pool heater or generator. Contact your local branch for information about an optional monitor service. You do not have to be home for any monitor installation or service.
