I went here a few years back when I was in a lengthy job search. Some counselors I had while in IT school locally were nice. But some staffers could be quite rude! And their computer system is a bit outdated & limited it what they offer to jobseekers. For instance, they don't allow any social media networking to research jobs or companies! So if you use this as a main source of connections to employers, they will fuss at ya or even go so far as to ask ya to leave if you try & use this method. They prefer candidates to use EmployFlorida, Indeed, Glassdoor, Monster, SimplyHired etc, job boards. They will ask you to do 5 job searches each day while there. Maybe they at one point offered a LinkedIn connection, I don't remember. Clerks will often stand over you or behind your shoulders too, to peek at your screen! This often made me uncomfortable. Unless I ask you for assistance, please don't hover over me as I apply for jobs or research industries. Many jobs posted that I had searched were out of the area or the pay & benefits were low. Or I couldn't get transportation! What's the point of taking on a job referral when you can't or don't have the means to get to a physical job site!? That was disappointing & quite time consuming & often times would get much runaround on some job boards.... And don't get me started on all the job scams....lol... OMG .... They need to offer more posts in EmployFlorida & others for REMOTE WORK, hint, hint nudge WINK ;) Now that Covid has passed us, this might be an option more prevalent than before. We shall see! Main things are : 1) Offer jobs w better pay & benefits 2) Offer greater jobs close in distance to the bus lines If you can't do that, then 3) Offer more Remote Work positions & companies! Who provide equipment or stipends for internet etc., preferably.
