Fantastic Library, rich in history. Funded by Mr Al Stone, owner of Sterilite Corporation, the buildings high ceiling is designed and constructed to represent a wooden barrel. The large brown arcs that form the ceiling denote the hoops that encircled a barrel and holding it together. The significance of this design is that Sterilite is built on the site of the former Fesseden Barrel Factory. This feature is wholly appropriate as a tribute to one of the industries that contributed to the development and growth of early Townsend Massachusetts.

This is the best library and staff you can find. Always cheerful and helpful and if they don't have the book you want, they will do their best to get it for you. They were amazing supporting our community during Covid. Amazing team and an amazing library!

My family travels from NH to use the Townsend library and has been for about 5 years. We love this library, the staff and the many programs they provide for the community. Truly the best library that we have ever had the privilege of using.

Hi, Does the TPL have a VCR to play VHS video tapes that we can use at the Library? We don't have the capability of playing these anymore but need to figure out what's on 10-12 unlabeled tapes. May be family treasure or nothing at all.

Hi there. We do not. Sorry! I wish we could help you out. I would try the Fitchburg or Leominster Library.
