Only open a total of 4 hours a week!! That’s not a big help if you are working!

Great way to keep waste out of landfills. The volunteers who staff the place are super friendly and helpful. The center is well-organized, clean, and safe. Selection of goods is hit-or-miss by the nature of the place, but you are sure to find something or other you like.

It’s a cool place to go to for hobby’s or collectors! I was overjoyed and happy to see they’re open now through the chaos that is covid! They’re extremely organized and have always been clean! I’ll say this regarding their employees (which I know some of them by their first name and they’re wonderful people!) yes some can be a little much at times but they’re people to and doing a job that probably isn’t the easiest at times. Work during covid before you go bashing a bunch of people, I have and it’s not fun.. we’re all out of sorts during all of this let alone working during this.

Great place - such friendly and helpful workers! We dropped off a few things and left with a few things that were on my WalMart list, but for free! We had a blast and will be back with more donations and possibly shopping again soon.

I'm not sure how they would recycle them (save for reuse vs. recycle the plastic) but they will surely recycle them.
We don’t pick up. We don’t have a truck ☹️ but there are a number of scrap metal dealers who will pick up. I’ve seen several of them on Wachuchat (FB)
Hi! Yes, we take aluminum storm doors. The metal part is free... most of them have some glass and that would be $1 per door.
We are a bit more flexible now but no more than 4 boxes.
We do. Usually we charge a small fee...$2... in case we have to throw them away (same as furniture.) But we do try to pass them along to a new owner.
We had a shredding event in November and are working with our contractors to set up the schedule for the next calendar year. At the moment, we have nothing scheduled. Our website will be updated as soon as we have dates.
Hi! We try to make room for moving boxes in our reuse building however, they are large and we don't always have space to accommodate many of them. Further, due to increases in hauler costs, we have to charge a fee for corrugated cardboard as well as other recyclables. Please visit our website for more details. You may want to advertise availability of moving boxes on a community site for your town.
Those types of items can be dropped off (for a fee... see our brochure pdf) any of the hours we are open. So Tuesday 9-11 AM, Wed. 2:30-4:30 PM and Thursday 5-7 PM as well as third Saturday of the month.
Yes! We have Earth Machine compost bins available for $25 (discounted from $39 because of a DEP grant.) You purchase them at check-in with cash or check (made out to Wachusett Earthday) and you will receive a ticket to get the bin in the Center Circle area.
Thanks for asking! The fee to drop off a reclining chair is $10. You can find this information and lots of other information about what we accept, what is free, what has a fee as well as special collection dates, at our website: https://www.wachusettearthday.org
Yes we do! The cost of a printer is $2 to drop off. And we don't charge for typewriters as we refurbish them and then sell them for a low price.
Thank you for your question. We only collect these items on our Hazardous Household Waste days. Our next collection is Saturday, April 6. If you have an immediate need to dispose of items, we suggest NEDT in Sutton. I believe they are open 2 days per week, all year. Else we'll see you on April 6 perhaps.
Yes. The Center (all areas) are open this morning (October 20) between 8 and 11. In addition, there will be free shredding.
$3 for monitor, $15 for TVs - https://www.wachusettearthday.org/recycling/
Yes they take all of those items. Styrofoam = no charge. Low fee for other things. $5 or $10. each.
$10 each
You can also take these items (minus pillows) to your local animal shelter! They really need them.
Yes, for a $5.00 fee
Thanks folks for helping with the info! Yes, our next Shredding Day will be June 16th from 8am to 11am. There will be a shredding truck onsite - and the rest of the site will be open.
Hi Cindy, We do not have the ability to recycle VHS tapes, unfortunately. Two places that do take VHS videos are Savers and Goodwill. Thank you! Rachel
Hi James, Our next free document shredding events will be on: Saturday June 16th, from 8am to 11am - and - Saturday October 20th, from 8am to 11am. Thank you! Rachel
Fees are generally itemized... a sofa is $10, for example. The exception is home project debris such as wood, sheetrock, etc. This is priced at $35/cubic yard. The brochure (which can be downloaded at the website) has the different prices listed. And if there are questions, you can call and ask.
yes
