In my experiences, you have a greater chance by being hit by a flying saucer than from Smoc actually helping you. I tried to get fuel assistance through SMOC, and that was a disaster. After sending my paystub‘s three times, they sent me a letter 6 months later saying my fuel assistance was rejected due to my inability to provide pay stubs. I toured a home daycare through SMOC in someone’s house. The daycare was basically a dungeon. It was in a dark basement with no windows that looked like a prison. I applied for housing over five years ago. They recently told me they are going to give section 8 and MRVP housing priority to people who have applied in 2010. I was in a house fire and still got 0 help from SMOC. If you want help, you are on your own in this cruel world unless you know someone who works for SMOC.

No one returns calls. They run Queen st shelter. Which clearly is not monitored. It's a toilet.

Honestly services are great but wait list for section 8 is way too long. There should be a 10 year cap on how long you stay on section 8. Like give others the opportunity to get help too. I know people that are on section 8 for 20 plus years. Why? There should be a limit!!!!!

Referred to them by the court to help a situation out. My housing counselor, Heather Silva, was on top of things and helped me through the process in no time! Great partner to work with, very happy with the result! Now if only they could cure Covid...

Yes. They have resources they can recommend like Homebase, RAFT and I believe of you go threw United way they can help with utilities and things as well. Ask For Amanda, She does all the stuff for the Home base and RAFT. Tell her India referred you. I hope this was helpful!
There are several factors that determines the wait time on any public housing list.... First families, domestic abuse survivors or the disabled that are homeless and staying in a shelter, (doesn't necessarily have to be a shelter in that town) get top priority in any town. However if the person is homeless and is working in a certain community then they will get priority in that community. If a person or family isn't homeless, Other factors come into play, which is that each subsidized housing development has to by law, house a certain number of disabled applicants, military applicants, certain number of each ethnicity, and again if you work in that community you get priority. Those are some knowledge I can offer you regarding subsidized housing. You can always call after you submit your application and it's been processed, to see where you are on the waiting list. Always update your information, especially your mailing address.
There's plenty of Way's to get furniture referral s....Yes they can help you there or any local church. But if you're looking for a new piece you might just go to BOBs and ask about damaged clearance items, if you need a bed i have a full size you can have.it is not new.
No it's right across the street though at 300 Howard Street in the old smoc building
Smoc doesn't know or care. They are run by grants. As long as they make it look good they will keep getting funded.
You need to email them it's terrible trying to get on contact with people in there.
Mark White if you truly need help, please call ANY other social service agency: Open Sky, CHL, Catholic Charities, Genesis Club, CMHA, etc.
We have staff that speak Portuguese, Spanish, and French. Other languages are offered through phone interpreter service.
Sorry i dont have this information
You would need to go into the office in Framingham, 2nd floor.
You go right down to common grounds which is on the second floor of there offices on bishop st in Framingham. They will provide you with an application for shelters in the area .
I'm not sure, but call or go to the office. SMOC helps with many things, it's worth asking them.
Definitely NOT Savers! "A Place to Turn" is a non-profit that has worked with my church for many years. I can't say enough.
Yes. The remaining money would be split equally over an 11 month span to cover your 1st year. So for example, if you had $4,000 remaining then $363 would be paid towards your rent for 11 months.
Don't know this.
